Donald Trump Sounds Like A Fascist, According To Trevor Noah On ‘The Daily Show’

Trevor Noah is taking aim at Donald Trump with claims that the current GOP frontrunner is sounding a lot like a fascist. Noah backs up his claim by first reading the definition of fascist. Then, The Daily Show host goes on to give examples of many things Trump has done and said in recent months that have him alarmed. It’s no secret that Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency has a lot of people shocked especially after considering the direction that the billionaire businessman might take the United States if he is able to pull off a win in November.

Noah first defined fascism as “celebrating aggressive masculinity, fear of outsiders, nationalism, intolerance of criticism” and more according to Mediaite. Then Noah goes on to say that “you just listen to things said by Donald Trump” for an illustration of fascism. Trevor even said he was “s**tting his pants” because some of the things Trump says are just downright scary.

“I’m not saying that Donald Trump is a fascist,” Noah said. “But even just in the last few days, he’s said and done some things that make it a pretty fascist week.”

Trevor Noah made some great points regarding Donald Trump and was sure to point out that Trump even quoted Mussolini on Twitter. Then, when confronted with the fact that the quote came from the ally to Germany during World War II, Trump said, “It’s a great quote.” Not to mention the overwhelming support that Trump has enjoyed from white supremacists and, most recently, David Duke, who at least used to rank pretty high in the KKK. Naturally, when Trump was confronted with the KKK support, rather than denounce them right away, he said he would have to look into it further. He wouldn’t want to lose any of those votes, right?

For those who may have missed it, Donald Trump is even attacking freedom of the press, which happens to be the First Amendment of the Constitution. Trump recently offered to make libel laws stronger so that newspapers can be sued for printing unflattering things about him. During a recent rally in Texas, Donald actually said, “One of the things I’m gonna do, and this is only gonna make it tougher for me, and I’ve never said this before, but one of the things I’m gonna do if I win… is I’m gonna open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money. We’re gonna open up those libel laws.” Listen to what Trump had to say about the libel laws here:

Apparently, Trump stomping on the Constitution was a total hit because as the crowds cheered, he continued on. “With me, they’re not protected, because I’m not like other people,” Trump yelled. “We’re gonna open up those libel laws, folks, and we’re gonna have people sue you like you never get sued before.” Awesome, Trump wants to make the United States an even more lawsuit-happy country? Or does that only apply when the media is talking about him?

Now let’s get to Trump’s fear of outsiders. The GOP presidential hopeful has already offered to build a wall between the United States and Mexico in order to keep illegal immigrants out. He has also given in to the Muslim intolerance in the U.S. and talks about his plans to make Muslims register. That sounds very much like the beginning of something very ugly if we’re going to start putting people in categories and make citizens feel even more unwelcome in their home country. It also sounds very much like fascism.
