Indonesian Toddler’s Hydrocephalus Life-Threatening, Parents Can’t Afford Surgeries

An Indonesian family is heartbroken over their daughter who suffers from a condition that has caused her head to grow to a shocking and painful size.

Three-year-old Dilla Anargia Adilla of Bogor, Indonesia was born with a condition known as hydrocephalus, also referred to as “water on the brain,” which is caused by the abnormal build-up of cerebrospinal fluid in certain parts of the brain, reports NY Daily. The ailment causes pressure to build up inside of the skull, resulting in blurred vision and mental and physical disability due to the gruesome swelling of the head. Outside of a few basic words, the condition has left Dilla without speech, and she is unable to walk, reports News Track India.

“Ever since I was told by the doctors before her birth about her disabilities I have accepted it from the start,” says Puspita. “But seeing Dilla in so much pain is obviously tearing me apart. It doesn’t just affect me, it upsets everybody when we see her in pain,” said Dilla’s 28-year-old mother, Puspita.

Although hydrocephalus is treatable in the UK, Dilla’s parents can not afford the surgery, and doctors are now saying that the girl’s condition has advanced so far that she may not survive a surgical attempt to ameliorate her condition, reports Parent Dish.

“I don’t know whether she will survive this illness because she needs special and intensive care. A doctor has told me that they can’t operate on Dilla because she is also getting weaker. I can only accept the gift that God has given to me and my husband,” praying for a miracle, Puspita continues, “I know that God sent Dilla to me to take care of her with all my heart. We are not sure there’s going to be a miracle but we can only hope and the rest is up to God.”
