‘The Dark Tower’ Actors Confirmed By Stephen King

The Dark Tower has long been considered author Stephen King’s magnum opus in the literary community. But it has also been very slow to get to the big screen or the small screen. The good news is that the fan’s long wait for his novel’s epic adaptation is finally over.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King has finally spoke out with some real confirmation for fans about his famous literary works, which have spanned over three decades and include eight novels in The Dark Tower series.

This epic series has been in the news a lot over the past year, and there has been so much speculation on social media that people have not known what to believe. But devoted Dark Tower fans have paid close attention to what has been taking place in Hollywood with regards to studio movement on the project and the key players attached to it.

Most fans already know that Nikolaj Arcel has been tapped to direct the Dark Tower film, but there has been no indication if he will be reprising his role in the seven sequels that will surely take place.

But what Dark Tower fans may not have known is that even though actors Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba have been attached to the project, they had not been publicly endorsed by the creator of the universe, Stephen King.

Suffice it to say that all of that has been put to rest thanks to social media — Twitter to be exact. King took to his social media account and tweeted his own official confirmation that The Dark Tower movie is moving forward with McConaughey and Elba.

The Dark Tower is now “officially” official, even though it had entered official status earlier this year by outsiders. But as many know, nothing of Stephen King’s is official until the man himself, the maestro of horror and the master of terror, announces and endorses it.

“The thing is, it’s been a looong trip from the books to the film,” King told EW. “When you think about it, I started these stories as a senior in college, sitting in a little sh**ty cabin beside the river in Maine, and finally this thing is actually in pre-production now. I’m delighted, and I’m a little bit surprised.”

As many fans of King’s may already be aware, he is one of the most well-known authors in the world and more of his works have been adapted for film and TV than any other. But for some reason, there has always been a major holdup of the Dark Tower adaptation. There has always been something that has caused it to slide onto the back burner for another rainy day.

King has published over 50 novels, all of which have been bestsellers. His art is a global phenomenon in the horror genre, but he has crossed genres on several occasions and made masterpieces of them as well. Those works include Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Body (Stand By Me).

King’s raw talent and commanding dialogue are something that fans of his have come to love about the author. Even Arcel thought so.

“What Stephen King does best is mixing the everyday, or what you might call the mundane, with the fantastical,” Arcel told EW. “In my view, [The Dark Tower] novels are a mix between sci-fi and fantasy and modern times. That exact mix is so Stephen King.”

For those who have already read the Dark Tower books, you know all too well that King has created something so compelling and unique that no one could walk away unhappy with the movie. He even uses some of the characters from his other books in the series, which really makes interesting situations for the reader/viewer.
