Britney Spears Empathizes With Justin Bieber: People Are ‘Really Quick To Judge’

Britney Spears has been up close and and personal with fame’s underbelly enough to recognize a fellow traveller.

Speaking to V Magazine and gracing its 100th issue cover, the pop icon said she empathized with Justin Bieber’s experience of mass judgement from others.

“Whoever is in the spotlight, people are really quick to judge,” the mother-of-two tells V, also acknowledging that social media wasn’t as pervasive during her rise. She continued, “I mean, there are a lot of kids coming up who’ve experienced that.”

Spears went on to say, “You know, Justin Bieber, he’s huge, and he experiences [judgement]. It’s just the way the world works, unfortunately.”

“I’ve been doing this for 20 years,” the 34-year-old songstress reflects, “I kind of don’t pay attention to it. I have my relationship with God and myself and that’s what matters to me. I really don’t care what most people think.”

With her overly documented 2007 “meltdown” firmly in the past, Spears is currently a rave headliner in her own Las Vegas residency, which just added more tour dates.

The “Piece of Me” singer revealed her personal how-to-not-get-stressed manual to cope with the rumor mill and potential abuse — and it’s a simple one. Britney Spears has mostly opted out of online life.

“Honestly, I still don’t use my computer,” she told V, while reportedly laughing. “My kids use the computer more than I do! I understand that a lot of people are into it, and I have days where I write and stuff, but it’s really not for me. It’s not my thing.”

While there’s no way of knowing if Bieber will ever come across Britney’s (almost) off-grid approach, it’s certainly one way to avoid the trolls.

During the interview, Spears dished on her in-progress new album. “Honestly, I’m just particular with this record. It’s my baby, and so I really want it done right,” she says.

She added, “I would much rather have it be completely how I want it to be, whether that takes another year for me to do, or two months. I have no idea at this point. But I just know that the direction I’m going in is so good. It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time.”

“I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all. But I’m not rushing anything. I just want it to be done right, so that my fans will truly appreciate it,” she continued.

Meanwhile, it’s been a historic past few weeks for Justin. Last weekend, after winning his first Grammy alongside Skrillex and Diplo, the trio performed the song at the Los Angeles ceremony.

Then, at the BRIT Awards, Justin delivered a rendition of “Love Yourself” with James Bay before thrilling the crowd with a fiery performance of “Sorry.” The singer also won the Best International Male Award at the ceremony.

On Tuesday, Bieber and a small bunch of pals including Post Malone celebrated his 22nd birthday by decamping to what looks like a snowy wilderness from pics the singer subsequently posted on Instagram.

The heartthrob’s outdoor getaway follows an early blow-out party at Bel Air mansion over the weekend with the likes of model gal pal, Hailey Baldwin, Kourtney Kardashian, Puff Diddy, Joe Jonas, The Game, Travis Scott, Jason Derulo, and more. Based on guest-obtained video footage, much fun was had by the attendees.

People Magazine notes over 1.4 million Biebs-birthday related messages raced across Twitter on his official big day. But we do know at least one person wasn’t part of the social media flood: a certain Ms. Spears.
