Apparently James Holmes isn’t the super-genius the lame-stream media has made him out to be.

Despite early reports that we were dealing with a genius-level killer, one former supervisor of the Colorado shooter, James Holmes, maintains the contrary, detailing a bad experience with the young man who reportedly killed 12 and injured many more in Aurora, Colorado at the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. John Jacobson “mentored” Holmes back in 2006 during a summer internship at the University of California’s prestigious Salk Institute in San Diego, reports NY Daily. Of his experience with Holmes, Jacobson said that the Colorado shooter was a “mediocre” student, “socially inept,” and stubborn.

“He should not have gotten into the summer program,” Jacobson, 37, told the Los Angeles Times. “His grades were mediocre. I’ve heard him described as brilliant. This is extremely inaccurate.”

Despite mediocre transcripts, Jacobson accepted Holmes into the internship because his résumé detailed experience with computer programming. He was assigned to write a code for one of Jacobson’s experiments, but failed to follow the instructions properly.

“My experience with him was quite bad,” said Jacobson, who said that Holmes insisted upon using old programs to design the code. “He was absolutely stubborn. I was at a loss to how to get him to program in an object-oriented way,” Jacobson said. “Finally, I said, ‘Do it any way you can.’ ”

Finally, after six weeks, “He never completed the project. What he gave me was a complete mess,” said Jacobson, continuing, “I basically fired him.”

Jacobson, viewing Holmes as “a shy, pretty socially inept person,” attempted to introduce Holmes around the institute, but “He just had no interest,” Jacobson recalled. “I attributed all this to adolescent shyness, maybe feeling intimidated (by) people around him.”

In the now-famous video of Holmes giving a presentation regarding temporal illusions, the Colorado shooter named Jacobson as his mentor. Jacobson himself takes particular umbrage at the assertion. “That is not true. That’s almost slanderous,” Jacobson told the Times. “I was never his mentor.”
