Is Chris Martin & Gwyneth Paltrow’s Divorce Off? Martin ‘Ignores’ Divorce Papers [Report]

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has allegedly been ignoring Gwyneth Paltrow’s divorce papers for the past 10 months.

A new report by TMZ is revealing that Martin is still yet to respond to Paltrow’s divorce papers – despite her filing in April, 2015, and Chris being served the legal documents 10 months ago, on May 18, 2015.

TMZ is reporting that Gwyneth and Chris’s divorce has “laid dormant” since then, as Martin has allegedly still not officially filed any papers in response to Paltrow’s petition for divorce.

According to the site, if Chris does not respond soon, Paltrow could receive a “default judgement,” meaning that she will automatically receive everything she asked for in her initial filing, which according to TMZ, includes joint custody of the former couple’s two children, Apple, 11, and Moses, 9.

However, while TMZ is alleging that Martin has yet to respond to Paltrow’s filing, that doesn’t mean the former couple’s divorce is off. The site is reporting that Chris and Gwyneth’s business managers have been working together over the past few months to reach an agreement over who gets what in the coming divorce.

While neither Chris Martin nor Gwyneth Paltrow have officially spoken out about TMZ‘s story, Martin told NME last month that he doesn’t read any media speculation regarding his former relationship.

“Once you start being in it you realise, well, this isn’t really based on any truth,” Chris told NME ahead of Coldplay’s big Super Bowl 50 performance last month. “Especially if you go through a big break-up, there’s no point reading about it. There’s just no good gonna come from it,” Martin added.

Chris also admitted to the site that neither he nor Paltrow will be caught bas mouthing each other in the press for the sake of their two children. “If you have kids and they start reading about their parents not liking each other, that’s not good,” Chris confessed.

“I don’t mind speaking about it,” Martin continued of his and Paltrow’s split, “We just spent a long time trying to maintain a friendship so there wouldn’t have to be any kind of battle.”

Gwyneth also recently spoke about Chris in an interview with Glamour, where she raised eyebrows by describing Martin as being like her “brother.”

“We spend a lot of time together,” Paltrow said of her and Martin in the magazine, “He’s been away for two weeks. Last night [Chris] got in at midnight and slept here so he could surprise the kids in the morning, we could all have breakfast, and he could take them to school,” Paltrow said.

“We’re not living together, but he’s more than welcome to be with us whenever he wants,” she confirmed. “And vice versa: I sleep in his house in Malibu a lot with the kids.”

Chris and Gwyneth originally announced their separation in March, 2014, where Gwyneth described their split as a “conscious uncoupling.”

“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,” Martin and Paltrow said in a joint statement posted to the actress’s GOOP website, where Chris and his estranged wife also admitted that the two had been “working hard for well over a year” in an attempt to save their marriage.

“We have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate,” the former couple added in the statement. “We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been … We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”
