Drake Songs: ‘Views From The 6’ — ‘Not Driving’ Took Away Inspiration

Drake’s songs have been leaking across the Internet since last year. As people await a prolonged Views from the 6 album, there may be more insight into the delay.

Drake’s Views from the 6 release date has changed more than Stephen Curry’s 3-pointer location.

Likewise, there have been many rumored reasons why Drake’s album remains in a foregoing status. However, this particular reason — as weird as it may seem — is not rumor. It comes from the “Hotline Bling” rapper, himself.

During a Fader interview, Drake laid out a little secret about the inspiration behind his songs. Apparently, Drizzy Drake used to hear what listeners hear when driving in their vehicles. The total experience, from the bass and treble to whipping the ride as your favorite song blasts through the speakers, Drake was once a part of that day-to-day inspiration.

When searching for motivation and ideas to include in future songs, Drake used to find it while driving to the studio, as mentioned in Fader. However, once he stopped driving and hired a chauffeur, as well as other security personnel, that particular brand of song inspiration was left behind. Verbatim, Drake is quoted as follows.

“I’ve been deprived of driving for a long time. Riding to the studio with a driver and security and stuff, you lose something. That ride was my favorite thing in the world, you know And before that ride, it wasn’t going to the studio, it was going to my girl’s house, or going wherever. Driving was just one of the most pivotal things in my writing life.

Drake songs tend to paint a picture, intentionally. It’s the way he designs it. According to the source, he judges his work by his thoughts regarding how others might play his music in their cars. Drake’s interview continued as follows.

“Especially on this new record [Views from the 6], I just want you to be able to…[pauses] Sometimes those drives are heavy, man, depending on what happened where you came from and what’s about to happen where you’re going.”

As you probably realize, Drake’s Instagram is blowing up right now after his announcement hours ago. He noted that he’s in the “home stretch.” Many people took it as a reference towards his Views from the 6 release. While it’s set to drop in April, as hints Drake, his producer “40” elaborated on the upcoming Views album, as reported XXL.

“It’s going to be what everybody expects and wants from Drake and from us. A lot of introspection, very vivid. He’s discovering new flows, new cadences, new patterns. I’m trying to find ways to pull more untraditional sounds in, to push the boundaries a little further. Something about it should be special.”

Drake’s album is perhaps the most anticipated rap project of the year. While Drizzy Drake has been in the studio handling business, possibly such quality takes time and effort. Although the public would love for Drake to release his Views from the 6 songs tomorrow — at least one of them, anyway — the anticipation is for the best.

For the most part, Views from the 6 has most of Toronto buzzing, especially since Drake chose to record the majority of the album in his city. Drake mentioned another reason during his interview with Fader. When he records songs with “40,” he usually has to go see him. And if he has to do that, Drake says that they really have to put in work and not waste time.

Sometimes, it takes weeks and months, he mentions. However, in this situation, it took a little over a year.

All in all, what’s your stance on Drake’s Views from the 6 update? Will he drop the album in April, as he has hinted? Or will he postpone it yet again? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
