US Women’s Soccer Team Brings The ‘Party In The USA’ To London [Video]

The US Women’s Soccer team is having a pretty good time in London. The team will play its first match of the 2012 London Olympics tomorrow, two days ahead of the opening ceremonies, but the team also managed to find some time to work on their dance moves.

The Women’s Soccer team has pretty high hopes for the 2012 London Olympics (they brought home Gold in 2004 and 2008) but that doesn’t mean that they can’t have a little fun. Hope Solo, Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach, and the rest of the 2012 team strut their stuff around the hotel while singing “Party In The USA.”

And it’s good to see the team in high spirits since the US Team won’t be able to experience several of the perks of the 2012 London Olympics.

For one, the team will start competitive play a few days before the opening ceremonies. The team also won’t be playing a match in London unless they reach the Gold Medal game. According to Sports Illustrated, the team will also miss the opening ceremonies since they are staying at a hotel away from Olympic Village and will be playing a match on Saturday morning.

But despite the drawbacks, captain Christie Rampinoe said that the team is focused on winning a gold medal and isn’t bothered about missing the opening ceremonies.

Rampinoe said:

“It’s too much on the body and the mind to fly back and forth. The focus is on the games and that’s the most important thing. I would love for this team to experience an opening ceremonies because you kind of get that feeling of what the actual games are all about, with all the other countries and meeting different athletes from your own country. At the same time, getting to start it off with that first match of the Olympics is something special as well. We’ll celebrate it together, and watch the opening ceremonies.”

Here’s a video of the US Women’s Soccer team singing “Party In The USA.”

The women’s team will start their Olympic journey on Wednesday at noon against France. The team will play Columbia on July 28th and North Korea on July 31st.
