Since the The Dark Knight Rises shooting in Aurora, Colorado, Warner Brothers has been doing everything in their power to pay respect to the families of the massacre that left 12 people dead and 58 people injured, while still trying to run a profitable business. After The Dark Knight Rises midnight screening massacre, Warner Bros. has pulled gun imagery from The Dark Knight Rises trailer, and cancelled additional screenings for the cast and press.

In the wake of The Dark Knight Rises shooting, much has been said about the future of the upcoming release of Warner Bros other title,  Gangster Squad.  The studio decided to pull trailers of the gun happy film starring Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, and Josh Brolin, as shoot ‘em up gangsters. Earlier it was reported that so there won’t be a copycat, Warner Bros will re-shoot a scene which sees Ryan Gosling standing behind of a movie screen, shooting up the audience in a movie theater.

It’s tricky timing for Warner Brothers who were waiting to strike gold with The Dark Knight Rises, which underperformed over the weekend from what was expected in lieu of Aurora massacre.  Gangster Squad, which was expected to come out on September 7th, right in line for Oscar season looks like that pivotal date most certainly won’t happen.

One problem lurking over Gangster Squad is the extensive re-shoot that will take place to edit the movie theater shooting scene, a source close to the film’s production said, “a lot depends on the how quick the fix can be made.” It is said the decision over the release date will take place later today.
