‘Jessica Jones’ To Appear In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’? Krysten Ritter Sets The Record Straight

Marvel has successfully overtaken pop culture both in movies and on television, with hit movies like the Avengers, and TV shows like Jessica Jones, which has been wildly successful during its first season, but up until now, Marvel Studios has kept its TV and movie counterparts separate. However, if Marvel was planning on attempting a crossover between its TV shows and movies, it would seem that Avengers: Infinity Wars would be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Viewers also like that idea, reports Zap2it. Apparently, Jessica Jones fans have been rallying around the idea of the booze-loving private investigator playing a role in the next Avengers film.

The idea isn’t that far-fetched, either, considering that Jessica Jones does take place within the same universe as Marvel’s Avengers. During the first season of the series, a New York City alien invasion incident (from the first Avengers film) is even mentioned, unlike the X-Men films, which have never successfully been connected to their Marvel brethren.

In an interview during Wizard World Portland, the star of Jessica Jones, Krysten Ritter, was asked if she would like to make the crossover to the big screen, or rather stick to the world Netflix has created, states Cinema Blend. While the actress loves the gritty and dark world that Jessica Jones currently inhabits, she also wouldn’t turn down any opportunity to be a part of a major blockbuster film.

“That’s an interesting question because I love Jessica, and I love any opportunity to play her. Obviously, it’d be really exciting to be a part of those giant, huge movies with those great characters who are already established, so it’d be awesome, Ritter told ComicBook.com. “It’d be awesome if I got to pop up somewhere else. There’s always the chance that could happen. I don’t really know, they don’t tell me anything, so I’m totally stoked about the playground on Netflix.”

While Jones doesn’t necessarily have the kind of blockbuster power that Thor and Captain America have, if a “lesser” superhero did fit into an upcoming Avengers film, why not have it be one that can fight with superhuman strength and almost fly.

Taking into account that the Russo brothers have said that some 60 characters would be appearing in Avengers: Infinity Wars, one has to hope that Jessica Jones is somewhere on that list, even if she is towards the bottom.

But even with Ritter’s two thumbs up about Jessica Jones appearing in an Avengers movie, getting characters to jump from TV to the big screen is more complicated than one might think. However, despite crossovers being a staple in the comic book world, with characters who are inhabiting their own space ending up somewhere else to spice things up, some believe Jessica Jones, along with Daredevil, which made its successful debut before Jessica Jones, are too hard-boiled to be appearing next to characters such as Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.

According to Yahoo News, the R-rated nature of Jessica Jones and Daredevil doesn’t make them likely choices to be a part of a crossover event, even if they do all reside within the same universe.

But fans can keep hoping that, since Marvel is already having all of its movie characters’ work together on a regular basis, it would make sense to bring in TV characters alongside them in a major event that would up the stakes for Avengers: Infinity War even more.

As for Jessica Jones, a second season has already been renewed, but a premiere date has yet to be announced.

So fans, how much would you love to see a crossover event between Marvel’s comic book characters on TV and their film counterparts? Let us know in the comments and check out the interview with Jessica Jones star Ritter below.
