Jessa Duggar Plans To Adopt ‘Very Soon,’ According To Statement In ‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On’ Trailer [Video]

Jessa Duggar announced that she and husband, Ben Seewald, will start looking to adopt “very soon” in a recent trailer for the new season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On. Although Jessa has said in the past that she and her husband want a large family, and have always wanted to adopt, the news is now official.

“Being a mom is that most amazing thing,” Jessa confesses in the trailer for Jill & Jessa: Counting On, adding that they “are hoping to adopt very soon.” Duggar recently gave birth to her first child, Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, and has shared adorable photos of the infant over her Instagram account.

In a recent photo Duggar shared, the baby can be seen smiling as he’s covered by a red seat cover, with his little face and hands poking out. Jessa captioned the cute pic by thanking a friend for “for the cozy carseat cover,” adding that Spurgeon is “loving it!”

Thanks @sierrajodominguez for the cozy carseat cover! We’re loving it!

The three-part series of Jill & Jessa: Counting On helped Duggar land a new full-blown series with TLC, and the three episodes centered around Jessa and Ben transitioning from newlyweds to parents. Jessa, heavily pregnant, was seen in the final episode trying to induce labor, and finally succeeding as her home birth began.

Things did not go as planned, however, and while Spurgeon was thankfully okay after birth, Jessa had to be rushed to the hospital because she lost a lot of blood. Luckily, Jessa was fine also, and was able to return home quickly.

The full series of Jill & Jessa: Counting On will continue to follow Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald as they parent their new son, as well as her sister, Jill Dillard and her family as they continue their missionary work in Central America. Jessa’s sister-in-law, Anna Duggar, is expected to be on the new series as well, although her husband, Josh Duggar, will not be on air, according to TLC executives.

Since Jessa and her husband plan to adopt “very soon,” the new season might follow them as they navigate the adoption process. According to Jill, Jessa is so interested in adopting, if Duggar were to visit Central America, she would return to the United States with several children in tow.

“They’d be like, ‘We’ll take that one and that one and that one! We’ll take ’em all,” Jill joked about Jessa and Ben.

Although Jill & Jessa: Counting On will largely follow Jill and Jessa, it will also follow many of the Duggar children, and Jinger, Jana, and Joy Anna were featured heavily on the teaser trailer TLC released. The series is rumored to follow Jana, who is still unmarried, as she gives romance a spin, and tries to find a husband. According to the Duggar family blog, the series will also follow John-David, Joseph, and Josiah Duggar as they start to navigate adulthood.

It was originally thought that the entire series would focus on Jana and her love life, but after the initial three-part series scored so well with viewers, it became clear to TLC executives that viewers still care about Jill and Jessa Duggar. The premiere episode garnered millions of viewers, cementing a new series featuring the Duggar family.

After TLC cancelled 19 Kids & Counting, the network lost over $19 million according to TLC top brass. Each episode of the previously-aired three-part series of Jill & Jessa: Counting On can be viewed for free on the TLC website. They can also be viewed on the Duggar family blog.

Jill & Jessa: Counting Onwill begin airing on TLC on March 15, at 8 p.m. eastern.
