Gwen Stefani Dismisses Blake Shelton Breakup Rumors, Sings “Make Me Like You” On Ellen Show

Despite breakup rumors buzzing in the media, former No Doubt frontwoman and pop performer Gwen Stefani, 46 and boyfriend and country crooner Blake Shelton, 39 grow ever closer. Gwen Stefani recently appeared on the Ellen show and skirted around the topic of her romance with Blake even while Ellen DeGeneres persistently pressed her for updates. She performed her new single, “Make Me Like You” from her third studio album to an enthusiastic crowd, singing lyrics she admits were inspired by boyfriend Blake:

“Why’d you have to go and make me like you?/Yeah this is a feeling I’m not used to/Why’d you have to go and make me like you?/I’m so mad at you ’cause now you got me missing you/’Cause now you got me missing you

Something I could get used to/I could get used to this/It’s getting harder to leave it/Your lips on my lips/Oh, I can’t believe it/How good it could be/Didn’t wanna believe it, but now you are all I see”

Stefani was all smiles and giggles as she gushed about her forthcoming album, This is What the Truth Feels Like slated to be released on March 18.

“It’s unbelievable. About four or five of the songs I just wrote in January. So it’s just really cool to make music, and be in real time, and share it with everybody and feel everybody’s love and support and energy. It’s just been a magical record.”

As they talked, Ellen showed photos of Gwen and Blake including a shot of the two getting close at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys party earlier this month. She asked Gwen how Blake “popped the big question,” asking her to be a mentor for his team on The Voice. Stefani got serious for a moment as she conveyed her feelings about being on the show.

“I want to be on that show as much as possible… I got so much out of it.”

Although she spoke openly about her album and creative process, alluding to her romance with Blake, Gwen Stefani was coy about their relationship and reluctant to share any details beyond the play-by-play she recently posted to Twitter chronicling her journey to Kansas City, Missouri, to see Blake perform in concert.

While traveling on Friday, Gwen Stefani dismissed breakup rumors with a clever photo where she posed beside OK! Magazine‘s headline: “Gwen & Blake Split!” with the hashtag #airportnews, and another photo of her holding up an all access pass to Blake’s concert.

After Gwen Stefani appeared on Ellen and watched Blake perform on stage, the popular The Voice couple attended country singer RaeLynn Woodward and financial advisor Josh Davis’ wedding in Nashville on Saturday, unabashedly showing public displays of affection. An Instagram photo of the two couples quickly garnered over 20,000 likes and more than 300 comments.

What a beautiful day with such beautiful people. I am so thankful for everyone in my life and for my amazing Husband. #destinedtobeadavis

Blake Shelton was RaeLynn’s coach during season two of The Voice back in 2012, and he threw the couple an engagement party late last year, which was also when he introduced the pair to Gwen. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were a new item then; the couple started dating in November of 2015.

The pair’s whirlwind romance has been all over the media during the last several months and Gwen Stefani has put to rest all rumors about a split–not only in interviews and photos posted to social media, but in her song lyrics as well.
