‘Text From Dog’ is a Tumblr with a simple premise — vocalizing a dog’s presumed thoughts via his human and an iPhone text messaging screen — and the site went viral earlier this year due to its hilarious posts and easy-to-get humor.

Texts From Dog features interactions between a dog and his human (October Jones), often taking place while the human is at work. The Tumblr cites various dog behavior tropes to make its jokes, and quite effectively so. The images from the ‘Text From Dog’ blog are frequently shared on Facebook and Twitter, and dog-lovers everywhere find the blog consistently amusing.

Now Text From Dog’s joke is making the transition from the Tumblrsphere to print, as the popular blog has scored a book deal. According to print-centric blog The Bookseller, Text From Dog has been selected after an auction, and that a New York publishing house won the rights to bring the book to bookshelves:

Deputy publishing director Sarah Emsley bought the book at auction from Curtis Brown’s Gordon Wise (acting on behalf of Kristyn Keene at ICM Books, NY). Emsley commented: “October and Cooper have been brightening up our days for months and we could not be more thrilled to be working them. Buy your copy this autumn to see if it will be BATDOG or CATCAT who reigns supreme this Christmas.”

In the past, sites like Text From Dog have had mixed success translating to old media — does anyone remember the sitcom starring William Shatner that was based on the “Shit My Dad Says” Twitter account? But Text From Dog could do well in print form, and the book will hit bookshops on October 25th.
