Black Lives Matter Activists Are ‘F***ing Idiots,’ Bill Maher Says

The Black Lives Matter movement received some pretty harsh words from outspoken liberal comedian Bill Maher on the latest episode of his HBO talk show Real Time with Bill Maher.

While talking about the Black Lives Matter protester, who recently crashed a Hillary Clinton fundraiser arguing that Hillary was complicit in her former president husband’s legislation that some would say unfairly targeted black people, Maher questioned why a movement would go after the party on their side when nearly 20 percent of Donald Trump supporters are against the Emancipation Proclamation.

A bewildered Maher then said, “This is where you start the battle? You f***ing idiots!”

This is not the first time that Maher has taken the Black Lives Matter movement to task for focusing their rage on Democratic politicians instead of the less sympathetic Republican party.

One prior incident occurred when some BLM protesters took over Bernie Sanders’ microphone, causing the Democratic presidential candidate to step away from the stage and call an early end to his speaking engagement.

At that time, Maher voiced a similar complaint though without the harsh language.

There to help Maher understand where the BLM movement was coming from were guests Michael Eric Dyson and actor Mark Ruffalo.

Ruffalo speculated that perhaps Black Lives Matter were pushing Democrats because they wanted to make sure the party supposed to be on their side follows through with their promises.

Dyson said BLM wouldn’t picket a Republican rally because they know Republicans “don’t give a flying damn” about any of their issues.

A frustrated Maher had this to say about the constant pressure on Democrats.

“People need to learn the difference between an imperfect friend and a deadly enemy. You want to tear Hillary Clinton down? Great. Then enjoy President Trump. You only get two choices.”

Maher and Trump have had a very rocky history with one another.

In fact, he was sued by the real estate mogul for $5 million in 2013 for “failing to live up to an ‘unconditional offer’ made on NBC’s Tonight Show to donate $5 million to charity if Trump provided a copy of his birth certificate proving that he’s not ‘spawn of his mother having sex with orangutan,'” the Hollywood Reporter notes.

Trump would eventually pull that lawsuit, and a Washington Examiner article from 2015 indicates that the bad blood has subsided on Trump’s end.

“Bill Maher has been in a certain way very respectful of me,” Trump was quoted as saying. “In fact, a couple of months ago, before the polls started coming out, he said, ‘He’s not goin’ away.’ Because he’s a smart guy. He gets me. He understands me.”

Of course, Trump is unlikely to appreciate what Maher is saying when unpacking the Black Lives Matter criticisms. By invoking the Emancipation Proclamation statistic, Maher is painting Trump and his supporters as racist and criticizing BLM for focusing their anger on the wrong people.

As for Hillary Clinton, the party crasher didn’t have much of an effect on her performance Saturday in the South Carolina primaries. Clinton trounced Bernie Sanders with more than 70 percent of the vote, earning the vast majority of 53 delegates to add to her already formidable lead (when factoring in superdelegates already pledged to her). Still, the issue isn’t likely to go away as Clinton and Sanders head toward Super Tuesday in 13 key states.

But what do you think about Maher’s comments?

Is he right that the Black Lives Matter movement does itself a disservice by going after politicians like Clinton and Sanders, who allow a voice for their movement to begin with?
