Anne Hathaway Down For A ‘Catwoman’ Spin-Off On One Condition… [Video]
Anne Hathaway is totally down for a Catwoman spin-off film but only if The Dark Knight‘s visionary director is involved somehow.
With The Dark Knight Rises already through its successful (though haunted) opening, fans are already a-buzz wondering what comes next, reports the Huffington Post. Since Anne Hathaway did such a good job as “Catwoman” (though the bar was set pretty low), is it possible that she’ll be given a chance to reprise her role as the famous femme fatale in a spin-off film? Probably not likely, since director Christopher Nolan is reportedly “done” with the Batman mythos, though Anne Hathaway said she’d be more than willing if Nolan changes his mind.
“If he’s interested, I’m very interested,” said Hathaway on the potential for reprising her role as Selina Kyle. “I think it would be lovely to see more of her, but only if it’s with the right people. She lives in this Gotham City, and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least.”
Though Nolan has said that he’s done with the Bat-verse, he has lavished praise upon Hathaway for her performance and remarked that she does indeed deserve her own solo film, reports the Houston Chronicle.
“She’s an incredible character and we’re very excited to see her and hopefully we’ll leave people wanting more,” Nolan said, insisting once again that he’s out of the Batman mythos before adding, “I certainly think she deserves [another chance], she’s incredible.”
So don’t hold your breath for a Nolan-helmed Catwoman film starring Anne Hathaway in a slinky catsuit once again, but, after a few more deeply philosophical/visually spectacular films, maybe Nolan will miss superheroes. It’s not like he’d have to try very hard to beat the Halle Berry version anyway.

My comment will have a spoiler so don't read if you haven't seen The Dark Knight Rises.
I wouldn't like a Catwoman series, even though Anne Hathaway was a great Catwoman, namely because I like the idea of The Dark Knight Rises ending the saga. If there were to be a Catwoman saga, it would either need to be a prequel–a very unsavory idea that would weaken the integrity of The Dark Knight Rises–or she would have to leave Bruce. I feel like her journey in Batman was all about finding a clean start, and his was all about finding peace. They both attain their gaol at the end. It is satisfying, and I think that if they separate, it would challenge the meaning of the entire final.

Catwoman has been done already. And without a Batman, it will fall flat just like the last one did.

she's soo the best catwoman ever… she's not just seductive like others but she's seriously witty!

Hathaway is ugly as sin. Jesus how old is she?

Not really she has stood alone in comics just fine without Batman

crap

I agree. And worse yet, she is so phony and she thinks she's the best thing that came down the pike.

Exactly!

They do separate and have a daughter. But Catwoman origins are so interesting and complicated. She do well without Batman, she's very independent, because of her upbringing. But Hollywood would not handle well the story. Look what have they done with X-Men, Green Lantern!

My criticism isn't that you couldn't make an interesting Catwoman movie without Batman. It's that the ending of Nolan's movie closes so many doors on the topic that it would be one of those sequels that ruins the movie before it in order to work.

"maybe Nolan will miss superheroes"… he's doing Superman, he's not going to get a chance to miss superheroes.

Michelle's Catwoman is my favorite, but since I am not planning to see TDKR any time…ever, I won't see her performance. However, if we can get something better than Barry's "Cat something" I am happy.

Peole need to quit running down Halle's Catwoman. Her's was a different character, not Selena Kyle, so there is no legitimate comparison. It would be like comparing Darkman with Batman. It just doesn't work. So quit razzing Halle for a poorly written script or the campy direction.
As for a catwoman movie with Hathaway's Selena Kyle, to not end up doing to her what they did to Halle they would have to have the same director (Nolan). Though without the Batman to play off of, it could still fall flat.

Very true but if they do a catwoman movie it defiantly will be a prequel to the dark knight Hathaway was Great as catwoman the best one yet and out of all her movies she looked by far the best in this one I think she'll do a great job on her own and as for Nolan he's a great director but he's getting on my nerves about not wanting anything to do with batman anymore he perfected the batman story line better then any of the other cornet batman movies he could of really stretched this series to at least one more movie but I guess it has a lot todo with ledgers death another reason why he went with bane and not the riddler in DKR but I think another director can pick up nolans style on this trilogy and do a real good job on a catwoman movie I really hope they do go trough with it and I really hope Nolan comes to his senses and at least produces the movie keeping my fingers crossed lol

Your nuts she was serious in this movie I'm not gunna lie she isn't the best looking girl in Hollywood but she did a great job as catwoman best catwoman ever so far she's a great actress and couldn't of done her part any better plus she was slamming in this movie her body was so tight she earned my respect and deserves everyone else's even if your not a fan of her u gotta admit she did a great job !!!

Still, I can see where the actors are coming from. Super-hero movies are notorious for having sequels that weren't directed by the same person who did the first one, and those sequels are inferior more often than not–even in cases where the succeeding director tries to closely adhere to the style of the one that they're replacing.
The only sequel of this kind that I can think of that's almost as good as the original is Superman 2, but that's because eighty percent of the movie is based off of stuff that Donner already shot. And if you saw Superman 3 then you know that Lester was not very good at filling Donner's shoes without the template already laid out for him.

The first two superman movies were great the second was really on point and really followed the first one as for everyother superman movie sucked I get what your saying about them ruining the dark knight conclusion but I think there not going to come close to even touching the end of DKR because batman an catwoman both got what they wanted and I think Nolan ended it like that also to let people know that he is done….and as for the new man of steel movie coming out I think and hope its going to be good I think it's going to do well because Nolan is producing the movie and anything with Nolan is a great movie
Aug 14, 2012
Yeah, but the second Superman movie had the advantage that so many scenes were already shot by the guy who did the first. Even if Lester did reshoot them, he still had a template to base 80 percent of the movie on.

That movie had nothing to do with Catwoman. At all. It bore no resemblance to the character.
Aug 16, 2012
Respectfully, Halle Barry's was not the only movie Catwoman. There was also Michelle Pfeiffer's, and she was lovely.
Aug 17, 2012
no thank you. she has no ass, small chest, and she doesn't fit the mold in my eyes. I like the past cat women.
Aug 29, 2012
Pass on her Catwoman film. If it wasnt done with Michelle Pfeiffer, then I really could care less about it.
Sep 11, 2012
Good god, haven't they learned anything from that Halle ery Catwoman shitfest they called a movie?
