Samsung smartphone users looking for a new Verizon Wireless smartphone now have the option to pick up the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for just $100 with a two-year contract via online purchase. Retail store customers will also be able to pick up the phone for $150.

Verizon has been quick to cut down the price for the Galaxy Nexus, three months ago the device dropped in price from $300 to $200, still a steal for a smartphone that sells unlocked without a contract for $650. The newest price cut comes at a time when customers have flocked to the Samsung Galaxy S III which can be picked up for $199.99 with a two-year contract

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus ushered in the Google Android 4.0 OS but was quickly replaced by the Galaxy S III and other high-powered devices which were slow to adopt to the new Android platform.

It should be noted that the Verizon Nexus offers an unlockable bootloader and receives OS updates on a regular basis which is more than we can same for some smartphones which have become unruly products of a fragmented Google Android ecosystem.

While not the newest smartphone on the market the Galaxy Nexus does feature a still impressive Dual-Core 1.2Ghz Processor and 1GB ram beside a 5.0 megapixel camera which displays images on a 4.65″ HD Super AMOLED display. The device also features a 1.3MP front-facing camera and Verizon 4G LTE data access.
