Chris Christie Endorses Donald Trump For President To Spite ‘Desperate’ Marco Rubio, Al Sharpton Says Anyone But Trump

Businessman and presidential hopeful Donald Trump made a “big announcement” today that likely left presidential opponents Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio on the defense. Former presidential contender and New Jersey governor Chris Christie endorsed Trump for president during a press conference in which he noted Trump is “someone who keeps his word” and identified the business mogul as a “good friend.” The Chris Christie endorsement came shortly after Reverend Al Sharpton told attendees at the Center for American Progress Action Fund that he is already making plans to leave the country if Donald Trump is elected president. In fact, Sharpton said he would support “anyone” but Trump.

Vanity Fair reports that Governor Chris Christie has endorsed Donald Trump for president while using the endorsement to take a jab at both Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. During his endorsement of Trump for president, Christie noted that the “junior senators” Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio can’t compete with Trump and took some time to personally attack Marco Rubio as someone who is “desperate” and called him a “Washington DC act.”

At the 36:00 minute mark below, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie begins his attack on Marco Rubio as someone “putting on a show” out of desperation.

But before attacking Marco Rubio, Christie took to helping defend Donald Trump’s reputation as someone who is harsh and unapproachable. Christie noted that Trump is a long time friend and has been for a decade.

“I absolutely appreciate him as a person and as a friend.”

Christie says he is endorsing Trump for president for a number of reasons but one is that he feels Trump is better prepared to provide America with strong leadership and that he is the person on the GOP stage with the best chance of beating Hillary Clinton.

“I have been on that stage. I’ve gotten to know all the people on that stage. And there is no one who is better prepared to provide America with the strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world than Donald Trump. He is the clear standout. Nominate the person that gives us the best chance to beat Hillary Clinton. The best person to beat Hillary Clinton on that stage is Donald Trump.”

Some have claimed that Chris Christie’s endorsement of Trump for president is more telling of his hate for Marco Rubio than it is for his love of Trump as the endorsement is deemed “Marco hate.”

After Chris Christie’s endorsement of Donald Trump, another governor has stepped forward to offer support for the businessman. Maine Governor Paul LePage has also stepped forward to publicly support Trump following Christie’s joint announcement on the Trump campaign trail.

The dual governor endorsements come shortly after activist Reverend Al Sharpton claimed he would support anyone but Trump and that if Trump wins the presidency he may flee the country before he is deported by the businessman.

“If Donald Trump is the nominee, I’m open to support anyone [else], while I’m also reserving my ticket to get out of here if he wins, only because he’d probably have me deported anyway.”
