Domino In ‘Deadpool 2’: ‘Deadpool’ Movie Writers Involved In ‘X-Force,’ Talk Cable

With the Deadpool movie upon another weekend and already hit, plans are coming forth and rumors are abound with the Deadpool 2 and X-Force comic book movies. Globally, the film did very well for an R-rated project and now it was reported by Heroic Hollywood that Domino will be making her debut in the Merc with a Mouth sequel.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are moving forward with writing the movie sequel’s script with director Tim Miller returning. So it looks like they’ll all be one big happy family, working together once again, according to Screen Rant.

At the end of the first movie, Wade Williams comes out of a wall-papered hallway similar to that of the set found in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. This comedic reenactment by Deadpool was good for a chuckle, then he had an “oh, by the way” moment and announced that the time traveling X-Force team leader, Cable, will be in the sequel.

The Deadpool writers acknowledged this end-tease.

“Yeah, we’re on that path. We teased him in the coda, we’re sticking to those plans and are having a great time writing.”

Also X-Force and Deadpool-related comic book characters Garrison Kane, Sluggo, and Wire were said by the writers to be in the original Deadpool draft, but are now unlikely to be in the comic book movie sequel, according to Play List.

“You probably won’t [see them in the sequel]. But maybe in future go-rounds.”

Wernick further talked about how the comic book movie sequel is its own thing.

“Deadpool’s now become a brand and franchise unto himself, independent of the ‘X-Men’ and that’s great. And that gives the studio two franchises in one, but I think it is its own franchise, and you’ll see synergy between those two properties, but they’re two very distinct brands.”

X-Force, a comic book team-up with another set of mutants led by Cable, now has two members entering the cinematic realm. The writers Reese and Wernick are said to have their hand in involving themselves in this movie as well, according to the Play List site.

“We will have a hand in it. I think everything that Deadpool is involved in we will have a hand in and it’s a universe that Ryan [Reynolds] and us are very close to and very protective of, so I do think we would absolutely involved in that franchise as well. If it’s Deadpool related, I think you’ll see some of our fingerprints on that.”

As far as X-Force member, Domino, a.k.a. Neena Thurman, it will be interesting to know how she’s introduced, along with Cable, into Deadpool 2. The comic book counterpart, prior to her admission into the X-Force, was a member of the Six Pack team also led by Cable. It was then where a romance between the two blossomed.

At one time in the comics, she was abducted and replaced by Copycat to put Cable under surveillance. She was yet another mutant in the X-Men universe who goes by the name of Vanessa Carlysle, whose character was played Morena Baccarin in Deadpool. She never displayed her mutant abilities, even though the comic book version states she was born with them. Copycat was once a member of X-Force.

So since she was a seemingly normal person, perhaps she will be taking part in the same government program that Wade did, triggering a possible mutant gene by force?

With Deadpool’s “road map timeline,” as mentioned by Play List, there looks to be a connection building between it, X-Force, and the other characters’ involvement. According to Screen Rant, even the New Mutants are said to be in “active development.” So it looks like Fox is also taking on the “it’s all connected” route as well, going by the way of Deadpool as a stepping stool.

The Deadpool and Cable comic book series was a highly popular 50-issue run that ended and was ranked seventh in the “10 Greatest Buddy Teams.” With such a popular run, it may behoove the writers to use that series for comic book movie inspiration, so fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for the Deadpool sequel and the X-Force movie.
