Madonna Surprises ‘Random’ Fan – Chinese Pop Star Eason Chan – with X-Rated Banana in Macau

Madonna’s show in Macau this week did not go exactly as she’d expected, leaving the U.S. pop music icon with more egg on her face than the banana that she more-than-likely would have preferred.

The one and only “Material Girl” brought a random fan onto the stage during her February 21 performance in Macau to dance with her and – if he felt a little frisky – get a bit more X-rated with a banana.

While singers bringing fans onstage during shows is certainly nothing new, Madonna’s surprise guest turned out to be a swerve that took her concert on an all-too-swift turn east. More specifically, according E! News, the Far East.

Madonna’s anonymous fanboy turned out to be Chinese pop music singer Eason Chan.

Chan, who E! News noted has performed on a worldwide stage and even once famously sold out London’s O2 Arena in less than 20 minutes, understandably declined Madonna on her offer to let him perform a sexual act on her banana. Perhaps the 20-plus-year veteran of the Chinese music scene was worried that Time Magazine would revoke its faux consideration of him for 2016’s Person of the Year, as reported by MediaMass.

Chan, of course, laughed off the “Like a Virgin” singer’s advances, instead telling her that his daughter was in the crowd and that he did not want to embarrass either of them. He would later tell Chinese-language website People’s Daily Online, also per E! News, that the entire event had been unplanned, and that Madonna randomly picked him to come onstage when she saw his “wild dance moves” in the crowd from her view up on the stage.

Video taken from the concert shows an unflustered Madonna, who clearly did not realize the Cantonese singer’s status as a fellow celebrity, struggling to pronounce his name prior to offering him a piece a piece of the offending fruit and informing him that he knew “what to do with it.”

Chan, whether actually confused by Madonna’s advances or simply giving her an opportunity to recover her senses, did ask the icon to explain exactly what she would like him to do with the plantain’s relative.

Regardless of Madonna’s playful intentions that night in Macau, however, Chan’s mature response serves as an example to many of his fans of exactly why he has evolved to become an ambassador for music worldwide, as well as — as Daily Mail noted — “praised by Time magazine as a front runner in the next generation of Cantopop.”

The fact that the Chinese pop star stood anonymously in the crowd to lend his support for Madonna should not come as a surprise to his fans. As has been documented on a number of occasions, Chan believes that all people of the world can – and, in fact, should – love music in all of its varied forms. As the famed singer told Time Out Hong Kong during a 2015 interview.

“Everyone appreciates music, it’s just the way they listen to music is different, that’s all. I would encourage people to go to concerts because they get together with a bunch of people and have fun. I encourage the communal events, like going to the movies… You listen to the song and it’s really like you’re running a marathon. It’s a metaphor for the marathon and life. It’s about passion. ‘Cause at the end of it, the result doesn’t really matter. At the end of it, it’s about how you loved it. Nothing else really matters.”

Ironically, Daily Mail noted, Chan knew exactly what to do with the banana once cameras were no longer documenting the exchange. He was seen by observers eating it while leaving Madonna’s performance that night in Macau.

Up next for Madonna, meanwhile, is the Singapore National Stadium for a concert scheduled to take place on February 28. It has not yet been confirmed as to whether a fruit basket will be awaiting her arrival.
