Ashley Graham Shamed For Her ‘Plus Size’ Body Again — Why It Needs To Stop

Ashley Graham has an unusual critic now — a former Sports Illustrated model who is not happy about Ashley Graham being on the cover because it is “glamorizing full-figured women,” Daily Beast has reported.

That really does not make any sense. If anything, Ashley Graham has set new standards, as far as beauty is concerned. However, Cheryl Teigs does not agree. She goes on to say, “Actually I don’t like it that we’re talking about full figured women because it’s glamorizing them because your waist should be smaller than 35 [inches]. That’s what Dr.Oz said and I’m sticking to it.”

She goes on to say that her look is really not healthy in the long run. Teigs was the first model ever to be on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit twice. She has also been on the cover of several other magazines including Time.

Miss Tiegs may have got the waist size a bit wrong there. Her waist has been listed as 30 inches by her agency, IMG. And she may be the right role model for an wears a size 14, reports SF Gate. And one needs to take notice that Ashley Graham Ashley Graham is a size 16, reports the Daily Mail.

However, Ashely Graham who is the first ever “plus size” model to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated believes that it’s important to know that you can be healthy at pretty much any size. “It is so important to be healthy and I truly believe you can be healthy at any size,” Daily Mail reported her as saying. “You can be a size 2, 12 or 22, it doesn’t matter as long as you get off the couch and you take care of your body. Your body is going to thank you at the end of the day.”

Ashely says Sports Illustrated had taken a risk by putting a girl “my size” on the cover. Graham added that they are breaking barriers and that it is “beyond epic.” It does look like the magazine has done a great deal to boost the confidence of models who are not reed thin. But it seems like Ashley Graham was acutely aware of the criticism she might receive when she was being put on the cover of the coveted magazine. People have talked about her dress size several times and that it’s “unhealthy” and it looks like that sort of criticism just does not stop.

Graham was very excited about her cover and expressed it with an Instagram post. The caption that said, “Truly speechless!!! This cover is for every woman who felt like she wasn’t beautiful enough because of her size. You can do and achieve anything you put your mind to. Thank you so much to the entire @si_swimsuit team! I’m so excited to be a part of your family. I love you all!!!! #siswim #beautybeyondsize.”

Graham even told Elle that she did not like to use the word “real women.” And that she prefers the term “woman.” She went on to say that her cover is for all the women who feel embarrassed about her stretch marks, Style News has said.

Graham said she got her first start modeling lingerie. “I was born plus-size,” Graham told Yahoo! Style. “My first [modeling] job ever was lingerie. My mom had to sign a petition that said they would airbrush my nipples out!”

Do you think Ashley Graham could be the spokes person for all women who are not skinny or do not fit into the stereotype of a fashion model? Do you agree with Cheryl Teigs’ remarks on her body?
