Lana Del Rey wins a prominent award yet again but is being teased by Family Guy

Lana Del Rey A.K.A. ‘Donald Trump’ Wins Elle Award

Lana Del Rey is currently in the headlines because she flew to London to participate in the BRIT Awards and the Elle Style Awards. However, Lana Del Rey has been the butt of a fart joke on Family Guy, and she is also being used as a comparison tool for Donald Trump.

Sadly, Lana Del Rey showed up at the BRIT Awards only to see her friend, Father John Misty, not get an award. Instead, Father John Misty lost to Justin Bieber, and since he already knew this would happen, he pretended to look “downtrodden” as a joke, according to Tone Deaf.

Interestingly, Lana Del Rey has been around a lot of joking lately and it is usually at her expense. For example, in a Family Guy episode that aired on February 14 called “An App A Day,” Lana Del Rey was made fun of in a scene where Peter Griffin wanted to use Cleveland’s phone app, Shazam, to see who it would look up if you farted into the phone.

According to Magnetic, when the results came in, Shazam told Peter that his fart resembled the music of Lana Del Rey.

As if this was not mean enough, Lana Del Rey is also being used to describe the politics of Donald Trump. According to an opinion piece published on February 24 by the Daily Orange, “Like Lana Del Rey, opponents of Donald Trump call the businessman falsely authentic with a message unlike anything heard from presidential candidates in modern history, manufactured and financed with family-inherited capital.”

Despite this, the author continues their opinion piece on a cross-analysis of Lana Del Rey and Donald Trump with “Lana Del Rey may have changed her sound several times and had a career funded by rich ancestors, but so have most of the big names in pop and indie music.”

While the author may have been trying to make a point about Trump by using Lana Del Rey, LDR fans may find issues with the premise of the argument that, like Trump, Lana Del Rey is a rich kid that got money from her family to promote her rise to stardom.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Lana Del Rey has repeatedly insisted that she was not being supported by her rich family while she established her career. Instead, Lana Del Rey often reminds fans in interviews that there were times in her early 20’s when she lived in a trailer park and “could not even afford Coco Puffs.”

Part of the confusion over Lana Del Rey is expressed in another opinion piece published on February 22 by Pop Matters. In their article titled “What kind of media game is Lana Del Rey playing?” they write the following.

“[F]rom a cultural standpoint, while much has been said of her various personas, there is little explanation as to who and what exactly Lana Del Rey represents. Speculations abound, given that the star communicates so little with today’s modern media.”

Despite not being able to decide “who” Lana Del Rey truly is, one thing is for sure: people love her style. In addition to attending the BRIT Awards, Lana Del Rey was also in London for the Elle Style Awards and took home a trophy for Artist of the Year, according to Just Jared.

Currently, there are no upcoming concert dates in America for Lana Del Rey, but she will be playing elsewhere in 2016. So far, the closest Lana Del Rey will be to playing music in America in 2016 is the Osheaga Festival in Montreal from July 29 to 31.

According to Billboard, Lana Del Rey is extremely excited about playing a festival in Moscow and stated the following.

“The festivals are the most fun. It’s open air, there are no bouncy walls so the sound is amazing and everyone is there to party. Everyone is in a good mood.”
