Kanye West Album Helped Lamar Odom Learn To Speak Again, Khloe Kardashian Says

Kanye West has been in the news for all kinds of crazy reasons lately, but the story about how the rapper helped Lamar Odom shows a different side of Kim Kardashian’s husband.

While talking with Ross Matthews of Hollywood Today Live, Khloe Kardashian credited Kanye with helping Lamar Odom learn how to talk again after Odom’s drug overdose.

“Kanye was really instrumental in Lamar’s getting better. Kanye would come to the hospital and play his album for Lamar and Lamar couldn’t speak at this time, and music is definitely a form of therapy. But Lamar would say he could understand everything, but he couldn’t get the words out and he felt really trapped within his own body, which was terrifying and we were afraid he was going to stay like that,” Khloe Kardashian told Matthews. “So when he was able to finally speak he would always say ‘Kanye really helped me,’ I loved that he would come and do that for him.”

In October, Odom was found unconscious in a Las Vegas-area brothel, where he reportedly took a dangerous mixture of cocaine and a sexual-performance-enhancing drug. Odom was admitted to a nearby hospital before he was eventually transferred to a hospital in Los Angeles. Lamar’s estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, stuck by his side throughout the entire process, and it’s undeniable that the Kardashian family — including Kanye West — has played a huge role in the recovery process for the former NBA player.

In fact, Khloe is not the first member of the Kardashian-Jenner family to credit The Life of Pablo rapper with a huge role in Lamar’s recovery. Earlier this month, Lamlam made his first official public appearance when he attended Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 fashion show at Madison Square Garden.

At the time, Khloe wasn’t thrilled with the prospect of Lamar attending the show, she admitted, but Khloe’s famous mother, Kris Jenner, talked about why it was important for Odom to attend the Yeezy Season 3 launch.

“…(Odom) really wanted to support Kanye. He really wanted to be there for him because Kanye was very instrumental in part of his recovery,” Kris Jenner told ET earlier this month. “Kanye would go to the hospital and play him music, and that’s what he really, really responded to. He was amazing.”

Jenner added, “Lamar started rapping before he could talk. Isn’t that wild?”

In a separate conversation with Ross Matthews, Khloe Kardashian admits that she would ultimately like to rekindle her relationship with her estranged husband. During a conversation on her talk show, Kocktails with Khloe, Kardashian said that remarrying her Lammy would be her “best dream.”

“I mean, that would be like the best dream… like, okay, I hope that first marriage could happen again, but it’s really hard to erase everything that happened,” Kardashian said during the show. “Just building a friendship back is what I’m doing now, it has nothing intimately, nothing at all, just pure love and I want someone to learn how to love themselves again.”

Khloe and Lamar were married in 2009 after a brief, whirlwind romance, and the couple filed for divorce in 2013 amid allegations of cheating and drug use by Odom. At the time of Odom’s hospitalization, the pair were going through the final stages of their divorce, but Khloe opted to withdraw the divorce paperwork, saying that she simply didn’t need to finalize the divorce in the midst of Lamar’s health issues.
