Arrest Made After Dismembered Bodies Found Floating In Detroit River

Detroit, Michigan — An arrest has been made in the gruesome murder and dismemberment of a Detroit-area couple, whose bodies were discovered floating in the Detroit River on Tuesday.

The New York Daily News reports that a 39-year-old man has been arrested in the case, although they declined to give further details on the suspect. Neighbors did state, however, that the man was picked up by police at the house of the murdered couple, where a friend had recently moved in.

The victims were 42-year-old Chris Hall and his fiancee Danielle Greenway, 32. A family friend of the Greenways told the AP that the man staying with the slain couple was Greenway’s ex-boyfriend, “Roger,” who had moved in with them about three weeks ago.

Neighbor Samantha Dolliver stated of the horrific crime that:

“It makes my heart drop. They were the sweetest people. It hasn’t hit me yet. But when it does, I’m going to barricade myself in a room with a pillow and cry. … They were human beings, not a piece of scrap metal.”

According to Detroit News, Greenway and Hall were shot to death, before their hands, feet, and heads were removed. An autopsy put out by the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office noted that while Hall sustained multiple gunshot wounds, Greenway sustained a single gunshot wound to the head.

CBS Detroit notes that Interim Police Chief James Wilkewitz told them:

“And evidence collected from the scene would indicate that they were murdered in their home and their bodies transported to the location in Detroit where they were recovered.”

Wilkewitz stated that charges should be announced soon in the deaths of Chris Hall and Danielle Greenway of Detroit.
