Nina Dobrev is recovering from her recent breakup by throwing herself into her work, and she probably won’t have much time to look for love while she films her new movie, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. However, she continues to be plagued by those pesky rumors that she’s ultimately going to reunite with her ex, The Vampire Diaries costar Ian Somerhalder.
Celeb Dirty Laundry suggests that Nina Dobrev and Bridge of Spies actor Austin Stowell broke up after seven months of dating because Nina realized that she wants Ian Somerhalder back. However, the webloid admits that Austin and Nina seemed to be pretty content two months ago when they spend the Christmas holidays together, which was a sure sign that things were getting serious.
“Dobrev even got domestic and baked a cake and other goodies for Stowell.”
An E! News report challenges the assertion that Nina Dobrev split from Austin Stowell because she still has feelings for Ian Somerhalder—E! cites a source who say that Nina and Austin broke up because of their busy schedules. Nina recently started working on xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, so she won’t have much time to invest in a serious relationship. However, her romance with Austin was evidence that she’s looking for something serious—the seven months they spent together was the longest relationship that Nina has had since splitting from Ian.
According to Life & Style, Nina and Ian broke up in 2013 because Ian wanted a wife and Nina wasn’t ready to get domestic.
“He was starting to talk marriage and she is just getting started on her career,” a source revealed.
Nina Dobrev may finally be approaching the same place in life that Ian Somerhalder was at when they decided to split. Nina and Austin Stowell were so settled into their relationship that Nina regularly shared photos of Austin Stowell on Instagram, including a snapshot that shows her icing the aforementioned Christmas birthday cake for her former beau.
Nina’s willingness to share her relationship with Austin with her fans and the very “wifey” way she acted around him could be seen as evidence that the 27-year-old actress is starting to seriously think about settling down.
However, Nina Dobrev is still choosing work over love, and now that she’s no longer on The Vampire Diaries, she has a little extra work to do—in addition to acting in the projects that she gets cast in, she has to spend time pursuing new roles that will replace the consistent work that she lost after walking away from The CW series. Celeb Dirty Laundry speculates that Nina might be tempted to return to The Vampire Diaries because she “hasn’t had much success scoring roles on television or in movies since walking out the door at TVD.”
“Is it possible that Nina is headed back to the CW show and also into Ian’s arms?”
However, Nina Dobrev isn’t suffering from a lack of work right now, and she seems to be having a blast working on xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. She proved that she’s getting along swimmingly with her costars by engaging in a sweet Twitter exchange with Deepika Padukone and sharing a photo that shows her getting goofy with Ruby Rose.
If Nina Dobrev does ever return to The Vampire Diaries, she won’t spend much time in “Ian’s arms.” As the Inquisitr previously reported, executive producer Caroline Dries has hinted that Nina will only appear in the series finale, if she returns to the show at all. Ian Somerhalder certainly doesn’t seem to be in any rush to reunite with his ex onscreen—he likes the direction The Vampires Diaries has taken now that Nina is gone.
“That’s why we love this season so much,” Ian said of Season 7.
“We’re really able to really focus on what this show was always about, which is this relationship with these two boys, these two brothers in this town, and all of the crazy s**t that happens to them.”
Ian Somerhalder also has indicated that he’s not interested in getting back together with Nina Dobrev off-screen. As the Inquisitr previously reported, he has revealed that he and Nikki Reed are trying to have a baby, which is definitely not something that Ian would be doing if he wanted to leave his wife for another woman.
Do you believe the rumors that Nina Dobrev is starting to miss Ian Somerhalder and The Vampire Diaries, or do you think that she and Ian have both moved on from their romantic and working relationships?
