From Donald To Depp: Video Shows Johnny Depp Removing Donald Trump Makeup After Filming For Funny Or Die

Just last week, Johnny Depp was in the news for his portrayal of presidential candidate Donald Trump in a 50-minute Funny or Die video entitled “The Art of the Deal.” As Vanity Fair reported, the video stars an unrecognizable Johnny Depp as Donald Trump, in a fictional account of the adaptation of Trump’s book.

Nobody suspected of the projected, let alone that Johnny Depp would the one playing Trump’s role. The shooting of the movie was done in December, and it all happened thanks to Adam McKay of The Big Short and who is also the founder of Funny or Die.

The 50-minute Funny or Die film is said to be “unearthed at a yard sale by Ron Howard.” A summary of the film from Funny or Die tells what viewers can expect from Johnny Depp’s performance in “The Art of the Deal.”

“Donald Trump has it all. Money, power, respect, and an Eastern European bride. But all his success didn’t come for nothing. First, he inherited millions of dollars from his rich father, then he grabbed New York City by the balls. Now you can learn the art of negotiation, real estate, and high-quality brass in this illuminating made-for-TV special feature, Funny or Die Presents Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie.”

We’ve seen Johnny Depp transform into different types of characters, from his portrayal of Jack Sparrow for Pirates of theCaribbean, to the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. But now, we see him as Donald Trump, and he is unrecognizable in his makeup. According to Forbes, when the idea of playing Trump was proposed to Depp, he jumped at the opportunity straight away.

Since the 50-minute movie was published on February 10, it has already garnered 93,000 likes on Facebook and has been viewed more than 3 million times. It seems that Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Donald Trump was a big hit to viewers.

According to Chris Bruss, Funny or Die’s digital content president, the aim for creating the movie is to make people smile. “If people know that we did that and if that makes them say, ‘that’s funny and a crazy thing that Funny or Die and Johnny Depp got together and made this thing,’ it’s a way to, in my opinion, surprise and delight people.”

Now, a week after the release of “The Art of the Deal,” Funny or Die has released another video, this time behind-the-scenes footage of Johnny Depp removing his Donald Trump makeup and prosthetics. In the video, Depp is in what looks to be a dressing room, looking at himself in a mirror. He then starts picking away at the prosthetics on his face, peeling them off until nothing is left. He then takes off his Donald Trump wig and gives the finger, saying “F**k you.” He then turns to the camera and says, “F**k you too.” A true Donald to Depp transformation. “The Art of the Deal” has been met with great reviews, with The Guardian saying “all good stuff from Depp.” The video also stars Ron Howard, Robert Morse, Alfred Molina, Jack McBrayer, Patton Oswalt, Henry Winkler, Michaela Watkins, and Stephen Merchant.
