Taylor Swift Makes A Beautiful Maid Of Honor, A Week Of Milestones

Taylor Swift has marked a few milestones over the past week. Not only did she nab Album of the Year yet again at the 2016 Grammy Awards, but she also helped her bestie tie the knot and reach a milestone of her own. On Saturday, the “Blank Space” singer rocked not only as a bridesmaid, but also a maid of honor for her pal Britany Mack. Of course, Swift dazzled in the show-stopper attire that she was outfitted in for the nuptials, yet she didn’t overshadow the blushing bride who looked simply divine in her gown that was fit for a princess.

“The bride and her superstar maid of honor wore dresses by celebrity designer Reem Acra. The bride’s hand-embroidered silk taffeta ball gown was completed with a matching hand-embroidered cathedral veil. Swift’s dress was a blush pink chiffon cap sleeve gown with a hand-embroidered bodice.”

The besties were sure to head to the designer’s NYC boutique in the summer of last year in order to ensure their selections were perfect for the winter wedding. Swift spoke with the publication about her first experience as maid of honor.

“I’ve never been a maid of honor before. This is my first time, and it’s really, really important to me because this is my best friend, who I’ve known since I was born. And she’s marrying someone I’ve known since I was 4,”

About the celebrity designer’s talent, Swift also had only rave reviews.

“Reem does the most amazing bridal designs, and Britany and I were looking throughVogue, and she pointed to this one gown, and I was like, ‘I wonder if we could go to the showroom…,’ “

Clearly it was meant to be because the dresses that both ended up with were spectacular and fit for a fairy tale wedding that the event surely ended up being. Swift reminisced about the incredible experience the girls had the day they visited the New York showroom.

“[It was] the best day ever. It was so amazing.”

As noted, Taylor was coming off one truly remarkable week since winning for best album at the Grammys. The star accepted the award and spoke from the heart to her millions of fans. Her inspiring words made headlines. Some may even say that a portion of her speech was directed at ever-controversial rapper Kanye West, who slighted Swift in his most recent track by indicating that he is the reason she is where she is in the industry. USA Today reminds of the singer’s words at the event.

“As the first woman to win album of the year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there: there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you’ll know it was you and the people who love you who put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”

Kanye has since responded to Swift’s pointed words, as if we could expect any less. Essentially, Kanye indicates that he wants the best for Swift, but also draws on the fact that there are much bigger problems to focus on in the world. Seventeen relays the rapper’s words.

“There’s people going through real issues out here. There’s people out of work. There’s people in debt that can’t make it out of debt. There’s people that’s in debt that don’t have a shoe. There’s people that are in debt that don’t have a hit album out also — you know what I’m saying? I don’t think people care about me or her in that way. People care about their families. If you like my music, listen to it. If you like her music, listen to it.”
