Wrong Baby Buried At Houston Funeral
The wrong child was buried during a Houston funeral last Saturday.
A Houston, Texas family was horrified to learn that the wrong baby was buried after they held a funeral service for their child last saturday. According to Newser, the funeral home directors called the family and had the hard task of explaining that their baby was still in the the funeral home. Hearing this, the mother of the child, Mercedez Uscanga stated “I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know what to say.”
The infant’s name was Armani Angel Mares, and he was to be Uscanga’s and her boyfriend’s first son. Unfortunately the baby was still born, reports ABC. Heartbroken after the loss of their child the family held a heartfelt memorial service at Brookside funeral home. However, the family did not know that the funeral home buried the wrong child. Their tears and heartfelt words during the service were for another child.
When asking the funeral home how a mix-up like this could happen, Jessica S. McDunn said “We are working closely with the families affected to resolve this situation to their satisfaction and continue to do so. Out of respect for the privacy of the families, it would be inappropriate to release any details. However, I will say that our associates are well trained and dedicated to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in our work. Our staff strives to serve our families with the highest level of care and compassion. We have policies and procedures in place, however occasionally mistakes happen. The family has already made other arrangements with a new funeral home to pick up their baby thursday afternoon and they seek a full investigation into the mix up by the state.
