Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update Available For Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini


Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE can now be updated to the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow mobile operating system. However, to do so, users will need a custom ROM.

According to a report from Team Android,ResurrectionRemix firmware based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update was released for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE, particularly for units bearing the model number I9195. The smaller variant of Samsung’s 2013 flagship smartphone, Galaxy S4 Mini hit the market with pre-installed Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, according to GSM Arena.

Some of the S4 Mini LTE’s specs include a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. It is packed with a Qualcomm MSM8930AB Snapdragon chipset with dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU, Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5 Gigabyte of RAM. The internal memory offers 8 GB storage and there’s provision for memory expansion via a microSD slot that can carry up to a 64 GB storage card, the specs list on GSM Arena also indicated.

The latest mobile firmware update officially released for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE was Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. But users of this smartphone model wishing to experience Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow goodies can download and install the ResurrectionRemix ROM.

Some of the features found on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow ResurrectionRemix update are a Quick-Smart Pulldown, a Dark Material theme, lock screen shortcuts, battery mods, a quick unlock feature and more. Also, the Weather display is also added to the status bar header and this Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow custom update brings in all the CyanogenMod 13 features.

But, since this is not an official Marshmallow release, S4 Mini LTE users are expected to be more cautious during the installation process. Moreover, it is really necessary that the owners are aware of the possible effects of downloading and installing a custom firmware especially since the ResurrectionRemix ROM available for S4 Mini LTE is still in alpha stage. It should be expected that certain Marshmallow features included in the firmware are not yet in their full working state. However, all the issues included in the alpha build should be fixed in the final and stable version.

Team Android also shared that S4 Mini owners can also back up their files using the desktop called Samsung KIES.

Moreover, experts recommend that the smartphone have at least 80 percent battery power prior to installing an update such as ResurrectionRemix ROM based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. Additionally, to prevent issues connecting the Galaxy S4 Mini LTE to the computer to install the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow ROM, owners will have to enable USB Debugging Mode.
