WWE News: Huge Update On The Undertaker’s ‘WrestleMania’ Opponent, John Cena Isn’t It

WWE has done a great job at promoting WWE Fast Lane, because the match with Triple H is the main bout WWE fans are talking about online. So far, a WrestleMania 32 card has been rumored and here is what is has thus far:

  • Roman Reigns vs. Triple H
  • Bray Wyatt vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch
  • Braun Strowman vs. TBD

As of this writing, anything can change. That’s the beauty of WrestleMania season. Even though WWE officials may make it look obvious with their booking, they can change plans the night before WrestleMania. The perfect example of that is Roman Reigns’ situation last year at Levi’s Stadium. The WWE Creative team decided Seth Rollins would cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase in the main event.

At the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia, Reigns won, but the fans nearly revolted and it continued to WrestleMania. They had to book the way the fans wanted in order to bring out the best result of the show. Having Reigns walk out of Levi’s Stadium with the WWE championship wasn’t that proper way. This all comes full circle as the WWE has decisions to make that will make or break the pay-per-view.

Nowhere on that prediction card does it have the Undertaker. Coming off a victory against Bray Wyatt last year, WWE will have to raise the bar in Taker’s match. He had a great feud with Brock Lesnar over the Summer and the WWE Universe hasn’t seen him since. Rumor had it that Braun Strowman was the contender, but WWE officials have pulled that idea.

According to Dave Meltzer and NoDQ, the Undertaker’s WrestleMania opponent is somebody that fans will never expect.

“Meltzer was told that Undertaker has an opponent scheduled for the event. The only information that has been given is that Undertaker’s opponent isn’t planned to be Cena, Kevin Owens, Braun Strowman, or Brock Lesnar. The opponent is believed to be someone who isn’t currently active on the roster right now. While that will lead to some people speculating about Sting, his neck has spinal stenosis and he still needs to have surgery.”

Also in the report, Meltzer said that despite John Cena’s cryptic tweet in the last few days, that doesn’t mean he’s going to get ready to face the Undertaker at Mania.

This is the absolutely brilliant by WWE officials. Every year, WWE fans usually have a good idea as to who the Phenom will wrestle at the Grandaddy of Them All. The past two years, it was predictable. That doesn’t mean the matches were bad, it just had no surprise element to it. Since Undertaker isn’t undefeated anymore, there has to be a new angle to his match.

For nearly 10 years, that was the gimmick. His undefeated streak at WrestleMania played right to the fans’ excitement for the Deadman to wrestle. Even though it seems like a big stretch, this won’t include any WWE NXT star either. Aside from possibly Finn Balor, nobody is able to face the Deadman and have it be realistic. He’s facing Samoa Joe at NXT Takeover Dallas.

Like Meltzer noted, Sting is dealing with a neck injury and will not be able to wrestle. As crazy as it may seem, what if Goldberg is the one to face the Undertaker at WrestleMania? A few rumors had Goldberg returning for WrestleMania 32 and nobody else makes sense at the moment. The Rock won’t, because he’s probably headed for an angle with Roman Reigns. Could the Undertaker “Be Next?”
