Morgan Freeman Gives $1 Million Dollars To Obama Super PAC
Morgan Freeman, who recently declared himself God, has decided that God has spoken with a very important message…we must reelect Barack Obama. Freeman told Priorities USA Action, the pro-Obama Super PAC, that he would be giving them a check for $1 million dollars.
Freeman made the million dollar pledge last month in order to boost the profile of the Super PAC and his donation contributed to a $6 million dollar June fundraising haul. June was their best month to date and has raised $11.7 million dollars in the second quarter of this year. Priorities USA focuses its attacks on presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his record at Bain Capital.
Freeman issued a statement where he confirmed his donation and offered praise for President Obama’s first term in office. He also warned of special interests targeting President Obama with hundreds of millions of dollars.
Freeman’s statement said,
“President Obama has done a remarkable job in terrible circumstances. He has ended combat operations in Iraq, put in place sensible reforms of Wall Street, saved the auto industry and protected the healthcare of every American with a preexisting condition. He has recognized the full equality of all our brothers and sisters and placed impressive, accomplished women on the Supreme Court. In return for this he is being targeted by hundreds of millions of dollars in special-interest money. I for one am proud to lend my voice – and support – to those who defend him.”
Co-chairman of Priorities USA, Paul Begala, praised Freeman’s donation and called the actor a “National Treasure”
