‘House Of Cards’ Spoilers — Frank And Claire Underwood Are At War In Season 4

The first full look at Season 4 of House of Cards came crashing in this week and let us know that the hatred between Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and his estranged wife, Claire (Robin Wright), is still in play.

“You have no idea what it means to have nothing,” Frank says in a voiceover during the trailer. “You don’t value what we have achieved. I have had to fight for everything my entire life.”

According to USA Today, Claire follows by saying, “I saw a future — our future,” to which he rebuttals, “We had a future until you started destroying it.”

Hard words for a couple who appears to be at war with one another.

The Season 4 trailer also briefly showed new arrivals Ellen Burstyn, Joel Kinnaman, and Neve Campbell, along with returning cast members Mahershala Ali (Remy Danton), Molly Parker (Jackie Sharp), and Lars Mikkelsen (Viktor Petrov).

For those needing an update, Frank was sworn in as president during the second season and spent Season 3 preparing to run in the 2016 election. According to Observer, after Season 3’s overhaul of Frank and Claire’s marriage, Season 4 appears to focus on the spousal civil war that is to come.

As seen in the trailer, plenty of deathly stares were exchanged between Frank and Claire. As we know, after Claire left Frank in the season finale of Season 3, it appeared she was contemplating the possibility of running against her ex in the upcoming election. Then, of course, states Observer, at one point in the trailer, a person dressed in an actual civil war uniform is seen holding a rifle. Hmmm? Then there’s the quick glimpse of what appears to be a prison cell. Confused?

So what questions and predictions could fans make from this particular trailer?

First off, who is the civil war soldier with a gun in a room that isn’t from the civil war era? Well, nobody knows and nobody has any strong guesses either so we’ll just have to wait on that one. Perhaps a reenactment will be attended by the Presidential candidates?

Secondly, we see a character that looks eerily similar to Kate Mara aka Zoe Barnes, the woman who Frank killed in Season 2. Is there some reason to casting a character so similar to Zoe? The Observer believes that this is not a coincidence and could perhaps be highlighting the ghosts of Frank’s past.

And we can’t overlook the scene where Frank is apparently getting slapped! But who is hitting Frank? If you look closely in the still provided by the Observer, why is Claire’s reflection just standing there watching it happen, seemingly unmoved? Again, it is obvious that Netflix doesn’t want to give away too much but wants to give just enough to make the fan base run wild with speculation.

House of Cards Season 4 premieres March 4 only on Netflix, and until then, we’ll just have to keep speculating about why there is obvious pandemonium scene along with Frank leaving the woods, heading to an open door that is attached to a black limousine housing what appears to be his estranged wife.

This is the first official trailer for Season 4, but Netflix has been hard at work for the past few months releasing a series of teasers to get fans ready for the new season. In the first, a bouquet of flowers is laying on some train tracks below a poster for Frank Underwood’s Presidential campaign. Could these be the tracks that Frank pushed Zoe onto?

The second, Frank’s right-hand man, Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly), is seen digging a hole, leading fans to think he may by burying another body, but when the camera pans out, you realize that he and Frank are simply at a ground-breaking ceremony.
