‘Destiny’ Weekly Reset For Feb. 16: Say Bye To Crimson Days, Hello To Oryx

The Destiny Crimson Days event is now over, and players who legitimately completed the required match should be receiving their 320 Light Ghost Shells in the next week. This also brings PlayStation and Xbox owners back to the regularly scheduled weekly reset of the game for Tuesday, February 16, with a challenge from everyone’s favorite raid boss and trip to visit the Undying Mind for the Nightfall.

This week’s Destiny Nightfall Strike modifiers for the Undying Mind Strike are an interesting mix of challenge and fun. The fun comes with Solar Burn and Brawler activated for increased damage from Solar weapons and melee. The challenge will come from the Grounded modifier, that makes players take extra damage while airborne, and Match Game, which makes enemy shields more resistant to unmatched elemental damage.

King’s Fall Raid Challenge Mode — Oryx (Guide)

The Destiny King’s Fall Raid challenge caps off this week with special conditions to beat Oryx, and it is definitely a far cry from the existing “No Knights” strategy being employed to defeat Hard Mode.

The Challenge mode condition is players must detonate 16 Blight bombs at the same time to bring Oryx’s health down from full to almost zero. It’s important to note that fireteam members can die during the encounter, and a fireteam can continue to use the same member to serve as the Relic Runner.

The rewards for Normal Mode are a guaranteed 310 Helmet or Primary Weapon, 310 Artifact, and a Calcified Fragment. The Hard mode loot is the same as normal plus a 320 Helmet or Primary Weapon, a 320 Artifact, Emblem, and a new Ship.

Destiny players who collect all 50 Calcified Fragments after defeating Oryx will also receive the Beltane Shader and other goodies from Eris Morn in the Tower.

Please consult this Inquisitr article for a full guide on how to beat the Oryx hard mode challenge.

Court of Oryx (Guide)

Tier 3: Thalnok, Fanatic of Crota

Destiny Thalnok Grimoire Card (PlayStation, Xbox)

This mini-Crota boss plays similar to the final The Dark Below Raid encounter in Destiny, with a couple of twists. It will require teamwork, as well. Like Crota, the only way to kill Thalnok is to bring his shields down to force him to kneel, while a player whacks him with a sword dropped by a Knight.

Thalnok will spawn with a pair of Wizards on either side of him on the platform, along with various mobs on the ground and a Swordbearer Knight in the middle. Destiny players should take out the Wizards first, since they help sustain Thalnok’s shield and can do serious damage to the Fireteam. Minions should be cleared out once they are down, and only then should the Swordbearer Knight be killed.

Once the Swordbearer Knight is down, one player (preferably the one with the highest Light Level) should pick up the sword, while the others shoot Thalnok with rockets to bring down his shield. The player with the sword should be able to get in two to three heavy attacks before needing to back off and repeating a second time.

Thalnok will stand back up and all of the minions will respawn, including the Wizards and Swordbearer Knight. Simply repeat the same steps until Thalnok is destroyed.
