Michael Vick has apologized for running a dog fighting ring and he has been working with the American Humane Society to turn around his image, however one group is not buying his new stance on animal cruelty. The ASPCA, a leading animal rights group on Wednesday said Michael Vick should not be allowed to own another dog.

Michael Vick was speaking to Piers Morgan on CNN this week when he revealed plans to buy his kids a puppy. After he made that statement the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) spoke out against the NFL star who served 19 months in prison for his part in a vicious dog fighting ring.

The organization tells TMZ:

“Vick’s journey toward rehabilitation and redemption has not reflected any direct concern for the wellbeing of animals, and we’ve never heard him express a shred of empathy toward the dogs he brutalized and killed.”

The organization also notes:

“Rather than talk about the horrors and brutalities of dog fighting, Vick has instead chosen to focus on the consequences of getting caught.”

The agencies biggest contention is that Michael Vick has not shown any type of remorse for his action and their belief that Vick is not responsible enough to be a pet owner.
