When a married couple go their separate ways, they usually try to keep the details private for the sake of the kids.

That’s not the approach taken by Elie Zober. She announced to the world with sign posted in her front yard in Beaverton, Ore., about 10 miles from downtown Portland, that the family residence is up for sale because her husband left her for his 22-year old girlfriend. The sign also reads “adulterers need not apply.”

Married 10 years, Zober has two kids. She told the Portland Fox affiliate, Channel 12, that “I want everyone to know I am hurt. I am scorned.  I am bitter. I am sad.” She insists that she’s not out for revenge–only truth in advertising.

Zober nonetheless says her husband is okay with the sign since it will help the property attract more attention from potential buyers and thereby avoid foreclosure. She added that “I want people to know it was a family home. It was well-loved and it was well taken care of. I want another family who will love it and care for it to move in.”

She even launched a website with more information about the three-bedroom house and, for those who are interested, additional thoughts about the divorce. She even sells a business size magnet version of the sign on the site.

Zober claims the she didn’t see the separation coming and that it took her completely by surprise. On the website, she writes that “For me that surprise came in the form of a 22 year old college student who likes yoga… and, other people’s husbands.”
