Lamar Odom Health Update: Walking, Talking During NYFW, Kris Jenner Speaks

Lamar Odom is doing remarkably well on the four-month anniversary of his shocking drug overdose in Pahrump, Nevada. Earlier this week, the former NBA player and his wife, Khloe Kardashian, traveled to New York City to attend the Yeezy Season 3 fashion show put on by his brother-in-law, Kanye West, and during the show, he was seen walking around with family, and chatting as he watched the show.

“Kanye invited [Lamar Odom] to come, and it’s a big deal for him to be able to come,” Kris Jenner explained to Entertainment Tonight Online on February 11. “I’m excited. For [Lamar Odom] to have this, you know, this is a milestone for him to be able to travel. So, baby steps. But this is a big one. This is a huge step for him.”

The outing marked the first public appearance by Lamar Odom, who was released from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last month, and had been seen just a couple of times as he drove around in Los Angeles in the weeks since.

“It’s a really short [trip],” Kris Jenner continued. “I think it’s a great thing for [Lamar Odom] to be with the family, and come out and do something that we’re all a part of, and he really wanted to support Kanye. He really wanted to be here for him, because Kanye was very instrumental in part of his recovery.”

Although the family is understandably cautious of Lamar Odom’s ongoing recovery, Jenner explained that the particular appearance on Thursday night was especially important due to West’s role in his recovery. As she explained, West often visited Lamar Odom in the hospital and played music for him, which he responded to quite well. In fact, Jenner claimed Lamar Odom started rapping again before he could talk.

Also instrumental in Lamar Odom’s recovery is Khloe. On October 13, 2015, when Lamar Odom was hospitalized after being found unconscious at a legal brothel, Khloe immediately boarded a private jet and flew to the Sunrise Hospital to be with Lamar Odom, who remained in a coma for three days after his arrival. She also was aboard the medical helicopter that transported Lamar Odom from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

“She just really, you know, nursed him right back,” Jenner said. “Every one of my kids really, really amazed me at their strength and at the way they were so selfless about just dropping everything.”

In addition to Khloe flying to Lamar Odom’s side, she was also joined by Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Jenner, and several other members of their family who wanted to be with Lamar Odom during his health crisis.

Also in her interview with Entertainment Tonight Online, Jenner addressed the ongoing rumors regarding her daughter’s possible reconciliation. Since Khloe flew to be with Lamar Odom, fans have wondered if the two would get back together, and after they signed documents to have their divorce thrown out, fans wondered further. However, at the time, Khloe was involved with Houston Rockets player James Harden, whom she began dating months prior. Then, with reconciliation rumors in full swing, Khloe and Harden split.

“I mean, I always want my kids to have a happy ending. All of them. And I consider [Lamar Odom], he’s one of my kids,” Jenner said. “They’ll always be family, so I always want there to be a happy ending.”
