‘The Huntsman Winter’s War’ New Trailer — Watch Chris Hemsworth Come Between Warring Sisters Charlize Theron And Emily Blunt

As the new trailer for The Huntsman: Winter’s War clearly shows, fans are in for an exciting journey when Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, and Jessica Chastain take on the classic tale of Snow White. Although the details of the new movie are still a little ambiguous, what can fans expect to unfold in the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel?

According to Variety, Winter’s War focuses on the interactions between the two main siblings in the movie, Queen Ravenna and Freya. The story begins with betrayal as Ravenna appears to be the cause of the death of Freya’s baby. In response, Freya unleashes a winter magic and exiles herself to another part of the country.

The story is actually part prequel and part sequel in that the origins of the feud between the two sister’s is explained at the beginning. The movie then picks up after the events in Snow White and the Huntsman, as Hemsworth’s huntsman and Chastain’s character attempt to resolve the long-standing dispute between the two Queens.

In addition to their fight against the two Queens, Hemsworth and Chastain are also set to be romantic interests in the movie. Interestingly, Chastain’s characters in many ways replaced Kirsten Stewarts’ in the first film.

According to Cinema Blend, Stewart’s off-screen antics with director Rupert Sanders is one reason why producers decided to go with a different cast this time around. As many will recall, Stewart was romantically linked with the director. For the most part, this decision should pay out huge dividends once the movie premieres this coming spring.

Meanwhile, the new storyline, as Slash Film aptly points out, is somewhat confusing. The mixture of a prequel and sequel is definitely at the center of this confusion, which the trailer does little to appease. However, with such a great cast and amazing effects, the movie is expected to draw plenty of viewers to theaters.

Speaking of the characters, the trailer offers a first look at just what fans can expect to go down in the film. Along with showing off just how evil Theron can look as Queen Ravenna, the trailer features some exciting scenes with Blunt’s character, who is seen riding a polar bear while turning people into ice.

The visual effects in The Huntsman Winter’s War also seem promising. This is not surprising considering how the director, Cedric Nicholas-Tryoan was in charge of the visual effects in the first film, Snow White and the Huntsman. At the same time, the movie’s producer, Joe Roth, had a hand in Maleficent and Alice in Wonderland.

At the same time, the movie’s main plot sounds eerily similar to Disney’s Frozen. Not only does Blunt’s character mirror Elsa in looks as well as powers, but the idea of two sisters at odds with each other also rings true in both films. Whether or not producers had this in mind when the developed the movie, Universal is definitely banking on this similarity to drawn in more fans.

That being said, Universal is banking a lot on Winter’s War. The first film made close to $400 million in box office sales with a budget of $170 million. Although this was a fairly successful haul, the franchise was hurt by the controversy surrounding Stewart and Rupert.

Fortunately, The Huntsman will not have any major blockbusters to contend with when it hits theaters in April. The only major competition will be The Jungle Book, as Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War is not scheduled for a release until early May.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War is scheduled to premiere in theaters on April 22, 2016.
