Amy Lindsay: Porn Star In Ted Cruz Campaign Ad Has No Hard Feelings [Video]

Actress Amy Lindsay says she has no “ill will” against GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz, the U.S. Senator from Texas, after he pulled down a campaign ad in which she was one of the featured players.

She might even vote for him yet.

Lindsay, who has 74 acting credits on IMDB as well as a daytime Emmy nomination on her resume, reportedly has a past in softcore porn films, which prompted the Cruz campaign to remove the ad from circulation, although it has since received a lot of publicity as a result of the mini-controversy.

Lindsay herself will probably get a career boost out of the situation, so it would appear to be a win-win for all concerned.

“Cruz told reporters in South Carolina on Friday that Lindsay had merely responded to an open casting call and blamed the company that recruited the actors for not properly vetting those who appeared,” CNN reported.

Reportedly a conservative Christian and registered Republican, Lindsay described herself as fiscally conservative and socially liberal in a her first post-ad TV interview with Jake Tapper on CNN (embedded below).

As a “middle class working girl,” she admitted that she was just doing an acting gig as part of her job, but she also supported the ad’s message that advocated for a Republican presidential candidate.

About acting in the commercial, Lindsay said, “I was speaking from the heart about some of the issues that are true problems in this country that we as Americans are facing today, so I believe in the message.”

As the Inquistir previously explained, the anti-Marco Rubio spot features a group of distraught people sitting in a group therapy circle discussing their disappointment with past voting decisions. The ad is aimed at Florida Senator Rubio, who supported the so-called Gang of 8 comprehensive immigration reform bill, which opponents believe is equivalent to full-on amnesty for illegal aliens. The legislation passed the Senate, but died in the House. With some ambiguity in the explanation, Rubio has since disavowed the bill.

“Maybe you should vote for more than just a pretty face next time,” a woman, portrayed by Lindsay, says at the conclusion of the ad’s fictional interaction.

The commercial ends with the usual legal reminder, “I’m Ted Cruz, and I approved this message.”

On Twitter and Instragram, Lindsay was critical of the Cruz campaign for yanking the political commercial; however, in the Tapper interview, she expressed understanding about Team Cruz’s decision particularly as it tries to woo South Carolina evangelicals to its column. Free speech goes both ways, she suggested.

The remaining GOP presidential contenders meet in a debate tonight in Greenville. The South Carolina primary is Saturday, February 20.

Tapper strangely asked if it was “un-Christian” for Team Cruz to pull the ad. She responded as follows.

“I don’t think it’s un-Christian. I think this is politics as usual. It was done in a snap moment. Someone’s got to make a decision, and sometimes it’s just better to take it down….I’ve actually got a lot of support on the Right from a lot of people that think that the Ted Cruz campaign might have acted hastily…I think that if they were smart, and they probably are, that people would look at broadening the horizon of women that might be leaning Republican and why..”

According to Buzzfeed, Lindsay is undecided between casting her ballot for Ted Cruz or front-runner Donald Trump. Ted Cruz is “absolutely” still in the running for her vote, she told Tapper.

“What it comes down to is I don’t want a [expletive deleted] Clinton or Sanders in the White House. Even though I’m a softcore actress, I’m voting conservative and Republican… I couldn’t do a Hillary Clinton commercial for all the money in the world,” said Amy Lindsay, according to the Chicago Tribune. She also condemned the war on women from the Left in its effort to shame her and embarrass the Cruz campaign.

Amy Lindsay also promised Jake Tapper that she would agree to his request to return to CNN to announce her presidential endorsement.
