Kanye West Fashion Show: Extra Claims He Wasn’t Paid For Work In Yeezy Season 3 Show

If you want to be a part of Kanye West’s fashion show, you better be prepared to work long hours for very little pay. Or, in the case of the extras at Kanye’s Yeezy Season 3 show, no pay at all.

On Thursday, one man took to Instagram to claim that he had been an extra in West’s fashion show, and despite a lot of hard work, he hadn’t been paid for his time or effort. In fact, the man asserted that he hadn’t even been wearing Yeezy Season 3 clothing during the show.

“Lmao I was on the megatron at Madison for yeezy 3. sh*t was trash. Kanye finnessed 1200 young black adults into working as extras for free to a sold out white crowd that was screaming “all day ni**a”. We didn’t find out we weren’t getting paid til 6am. He sent us to jersey and put us in Salvation Army clothes (not yeezy, my pants were carhartt and my shirt was American apparel). I jugged some sambas from wardrobe though.”

The poster goes by the name of “kur-ents” on Instagram, and his photo can be seen here.

According to Kanye West’s reps, the Instagram user simply isn’t telling the truth. TMZ reports that Kanye’s camp paid the extras a daily rate (which worked out to $10/hour) and gave them meal tickets for lunch. The news outlet also reported that most extras were thrilled by the opportunity.

“A rep for Kanye tells us extras got a daily rate and received a meal ticket for lunch. While the hours were long for the gig, we’re told the majority of the crew was thrilled to be in the show.”

The report from TMZ did acknowledge that because of the sheer number of extras, some of them were dressed in “vintage clothing that had been dyed for the production.” All the models were reportedly dressed in Yeezy Season 3 clothing.

Before the show, extras were asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement in order to participate. As a result, TMZ has questioned the authenticity of the Instagram user’s claims.

Kanye West’s fashion show has garnered a lot of attention since the debut of Yeezy Season 3 on Thursday. During his show, Kanye debuted a new, long-awaited song from his new album, dissed Taylor Swift, paraded his famous family in front of the cameras, and even brought recovering Lamar Odom along for the ride. The show marked Odom’s first public appearance since his hospitalization for a drug overdose back in October.

Kanye’s entourage for the Yeezy Season 3 show included all of his extended Kardashian-Jenner family, who all wore items designed by Yeezy himself. Khloe Kardashian, Lamar Odom, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Caitlyn Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian and North West all were present. Kanye’s new baby son, Saint West, did not attend the fashion show.

The show took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City during New York Fashion Week.

With all the excitement and commotion going on, is is possible that West could have forgotten to pay the extras who were a part of his show? Or do you think the Instagram user was simply off base? Why or why not?
