Will Tom Schwartz Give Up Modeling For Katie Maloney? What He Says About It

Vanderpump Rules star Tom Schwartz tried to work at SUR and at PUMP for a brief moment, but the stress of being a bartender was just too much for him. He disappointed both Lisa Vanderpump and Katie Maloney, who had campaigned for him to get a job at the restaurants. As it turns out, he was just too rattled to make it work. Tom finds comfort in modeling, but he doesn’t like the financial insecurities that come with the job. Despite Katie’s wishes that he would find something else, it sounds as if he isn’t in a rush. According to a new Bravo report, Vanderpump Rules star Tom Schwartz is now revealing why he sticks with the modeling.

“Well, believe it or not, I had a game plan before I came here and part of that game plan included doing print work, commercials, and then eventually the idea, the goal, the dream was to transition into acting,” Schwartz told The Daily Dish, adding, “And I knew it was going to be hard, but I totally underestimated just how fierce the competition is. The whole way I got into was via Tom and Jax, slash also networking with friends through them. One of them gave me their old books — a book is like your portfolio, you bring pictures around. Jax and Tom would let me crash their castings, which is a very common thing to do depending on who the client is and how big of a job. Jax would let me tag along sometimes.”

As it turns out, Tom Sandoval and Jax Taylor were actually big influences on Tom Schwartz when he was first starting out as a model. The three guys are close friends these days, and they all film Vanderpump Rules together. But he could have gotten some connections from these guys, as they worked quite a bit before filming the hit show for Bravo.

“Jax and Tom were big influences on me. People don’t realize that they’ve actually both booked a ton of jobs and had fairly successful modeling careers. They really worked a lot. Those guys were instrumental in my transition into L.A. and also my entry into the business,” Tom Schwartz reveals about his co-stars, who also worked in the modeling world before getting a job at SUR.

And while Schwartz may not be booking appointments and photo shoots back-to-back, he does have a routine in place that seems to work. And like any model, it focuses on him getting healthy, strong, and looking good for the cameras.

“I’ll start eating healthier. I’ll work out. I’ll go tanning — just a little bit, not too much. You don’t want to come in there looking like Snooki,” Tom Schwartz said, adding, “When they book you, they want you to look exactly how you looked when you came in in the casting, no drastic changes.”

While Tom Schwartz may feel very confident in his modeling, his future wife, Katie Maloney, isn’t exactly on the same page. Before they got engaged, Tom kept talking about how he wanted a secure job with a certain amount of money in his bank account. She gave him six months to figure out what he wanted, but he took a little longer. Tom’s patience paid off, and he eventually proposed to Katie. The engagement ring did give him some stress because it was over his initial budget.

As Katie will learn on next week’s episode of Vanderpump Rules, Tom Schwartz actually turned down some modeling jobs that could have paid well. She confronts Schwartz about this, asking him once again to go get a job. It doesn’t sound like he’s ready to give up modeling for Katie just yet. Hopefully, these two can find a balance that works for both of them.
