‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For Feb. 12, A Niche Set Of Goods
Xûr hit the Tower on Friday, February 12 hot on the heels of a promised Destiny expansion and sequel. PlayStation and Xbox players can look forward to a set of niche Exotic gear that may not necessarily be overpowering, but does provide for some fun moments.
Destiny players looking for Xûr should turn right and head toward the hangar after spawning at the Tower. Once you’ve gone through the long hallway and entered the hangar, turn right and you will see the seller of Exotics. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map, just to be sure.
Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, February 14. He will be gone as soon as the clock strikes 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT.Exotic Gear on Sale

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.
Peregrine Greaves
Peregrine Greaves is only the second pair of Exotic boots for Titans and are very much a Striker sub-class item. The primary perk is “Peregrine Strike,” which gives Shoulder Charge 3x more damage mid-air. These are a very niche pair of boots in terms of utility but can provide for some fun moments in PVE. Shoulder Charge is already a one-shot kill in PVP, so there’s not much added benefit there. While the Peregrine Greaves are an extremely niche set of boots, it is hard to argue with the perk rolls this week. The choice between carrying extra Shotgun or Machine Gun ammo is excellent and the “Arc Double-Down” perk fits perfectly with this Exotic piece.
Meanwhile, the 57 Intellect and 59 Strength stat roll is as close to perfect as you are going to get. No need to re-roll.
Celestial Nighthawk
The Celestial Nighthawk is a Gunslinger Hunter-specific Exotic helmet that gives the Golden Gun a single shot with six times the normal damage. The “Big Game” perk is fun to use in PVE and helpful against tougher enemies that barely flinch from a normal, single Golden Gun shot. However, it is not useful at all in PVP, where more three to four shots are preferable over one big one.The perk choices that come by default with Xur’s offering are not great, however. Destiny Hunters should aim for “Inverse Shadow” as a third column perk with either “Infusion” or “Better Already” in the final column. Reroll this with as high an Intellect stat as can be obtained to shoot for faster Super regeneration.
Obsidian Mind
The Obsidian Mind helmet is a still must-have for Voidwalker Warlocks, especially in PVE. The “Insatiable” (Nova Bomb kills reduce Nova Bomb killdown) intrinsic perk will make your Warlock a Nova Bomb-chucking machine when combined with the optional perks of extra super energy from either grenade kills or Special Weapon kills. Pair this helmet with the Soul Rip class talent and Bad Juju’s “String of Curses” perk for even more supers. The 75 Intellect roll is not the best for Obsidian Mind, as you’ll prefer a pure Intellect stat roll to maximize the Super ability potential of the helm. A Glass Needle change on this helmet to get that, plus the “Inverse Shadow” perk in the final column, is recommended.
