U.K. Baby Conceived On Valentine’s Day Bears Heart-Shaped Birthmark

A baby girl who was conceived on Valentine’s Day 2015 was born with a clear, heart-shaped birthmark on her forehead.

Poppy-Rae was born to Jade Sparham and Liam Scaife in November last year and both parents were amazed when they spotted her distinctive birthmark, clearly in the shape of a heart and located right in the middle of her forehead.

According to mother Jade, 20, when they worked their way through the dates of her various scans, they realized their gorgeous baby girl had been conceived on the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day.

According to doctors, the heart-shaped birthmark may eventually disappear. Her parents say the almost perfectly shaped red heart makes their child even more beautiful.

Jade told Mirror Online, “It was such a lovely coincidence. It definitely makes this Valentine’s Day extra special for us. Poppy-Rae is like our very own cupid baby.”

“Now Liam and I can’t stop kissing her little face.”

Reportedly Jade and Liam were thrilled by Poppy-Rae’s arrival in November last year at Pilgrim Hospital in Skegness, Lincolnshire. The baby girl was born healthy and happy, weighing in at 8 lbs and 4 oz. It was only a few hours after Poppy-Rae was born that her parents spotted a red mark on the baby’s forehead.

According to the Daily Mail, while initially they were concerned, the doctor told them it was a pressure mark and that it would probably fade within a couple of hours. However, two days later, the couple noted that the red mark had formed into a heart shape on Poppy-Rae’s forehead and reportedly since then, whenever their daughter laughs of cries, the birthmark turns a darker red.

To make sure everything was in order with their daughter, Jade took Poppy-Rae to see a doctor who diagnosed the red heart as a birthmark. The doctor reassured them that the birthmark would pose no health problems for their baby girl and that it might eventually fade away. Reportedly birthmarks of this kind often disappear by the age of four or five, but can also reappear later in life.

According to Jade, she hopes the birthmark never disappears as it makes Poppy-Rae unique and she and Liam wouldn’t have their daughter any other way.

Jade said they were initially worried that Poppy-Rae might be bullied or teased as she grew up, or might have problems finding a boyfriend, but they have since realized her birthmark makes their daughter unique and more beautiful to them both.

“We really believe that her little love-heart has brought us closer together as a family.”

Jade said whenever she and Liam have an argument or disagreement, all they need to do is look at Poppy-Rae to be reminded of how much they really love each other.

“As soon as her love-heart becomes more prominent, it’s a reminder to Liam and me that she was born from our love and conceived on the day of love.”

It seems heart-shaped birthmarks are not actually that uncommon, as a search on Twitter reveals a little boy baby who was born with a heart-shaped birthmark on his leg.

However, given the fact that little Poppy-Rae was conceived on Valentine’s Day makes her unique and beautiful indeed. Whether her loving parents are planning on a brother or sister for their baby girl this Valentine’s Day is unknown.
