Solange Knowles Takes Offense To ‘Biting The Hand That Feeds Her’ Comment
Solange Knowles, the sister of Beyoncé, is a singer, songwriter, model, and actress, and she is also really passionate about the treatment of black artists in the music industry. Hip Hollywood reports that in a series of recent posts on Twitter, Solange Knowles spoke about how there is still a lack of respect for the contributions of black people in the music industry; an industry that was built on their backs.
The music business was built brick by brick off the backs, shoulders, heart ache and pain, of black people, and everyone is just exhausted.

Last two days has brought up so much emotion, recalling when it was made a joke by “indie white guys” that I brought up Brandy album cuts
— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) February 4, 2016
Solange Knowles was referring to the time in 2013 when she felt Brandy’s album Two Eleven received unfair criticism at the hands of primarily white, male music blogs. She had said they should hire someone who knows what they are talking about before rating any music by a black artist.
“[Hire people who] know about deep Brandy album cuts before… giving a ‘grade’ or a ‘score’ to any R&B artist.”

After the remarks by Solange Knowles, New York Times music critic, Jon Caramanica, said via podcast that she was “biting the hand that feeds her.”
“The only reason that Solange’s success this past year has even been a thing is only because of these same people that she’s lambasting, like there would be no Solange record if the dude from Grizzly Bear didn’t put it out. There would be no Solange interests if all of a sudden people that have not historically been interested in r&b hadn’t decided to pay attention to Miguel and The Weeknd and Drake. So you know, first of all, let’s talk about biting the hand that feeds you. If I was Solange, I would be a little bit worried about that.”
Solange Knowles’ fresh tweets have brought all that up again, and she was not impressed with the message Caramanica sent to her.
Ps: @JonCaramanica
Don’t you EVER tell a Black woman, not to “Bite the hand that feeds you” while speaking in reference to white people.— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) February 4, 2016

My father “fed me” when he was hosed down and forced to walk on hot pavement barefoot in civil rights marches in Alabama @joncaramanica

With all due respect, the people who you named were responsible for my “success” wish they could feed me half of what growing up in 3rd Ward

So far, Caramanica has not responded. In the meantime, Solange Knowles tweeted that she is at Mardi Gras.

And while she had fun at Mardi Gras, Solange Knowles also had an unfortunate incident. USA Today reports that Knowles was on a float for the Krewe of Muses on Thursday night, and she lost her wedding ring, which people at the parade believe she accidentally flung off her finger while throwing traditional beads into the crowd. Twitter has lit up with the news.

The ring is a special art-deco-influenced design that is very unique.

As for her chances of getting her ring back, some might think it’s slim to none, but just two weeks ago, Mark Ruffalo lost his cell phone and wallet in the blizzard in New York, and he reached out to his 2 million plus Twitter followers to help him. They came through and found his lost property!
Thank Amenaide and Catherine Brown for finding my Phone and wallet! Thanks Brown family for your decency. pic.twitter.com/CJfcZz5gfj

Solange Knowles can only hope that it works out as well for her, although a ring will be a lot more difficult to spot than a wallet and phone. She has offered a reward to whoever finds it. Prior to the big parade, Solange Knowles shouted out to her friend for getting her all decked out for the big night.
“Aaaaaand it begins!!!! #turnupmardigras. Thanks to one of my oldest and most lovely friends @itsjeremyscott for making me feel like a real Mardi Gras Queen in @moschino???????? So honored to be your Queen of Muses #kreweofmuses!!! We about to be turnt in that glitter shoe!!! See you soon Nola!”
Good luck finding your ring, Solange Knowles. It’s hard when something that precious goes missing.
