Kate Winslet Supports Leonardo DiCaprio, Even If Rose Let Jack Die

Kate Winslet recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and they had a short but lively discussion about how Rose let Jack die in the movie Titanic. The Washington Post reports that Winslet agreed that Rose let Jack die and that there was enough room for both of them on the floating door. When Kimmel said he thought Jack could have survived, Kate Winslet agreed.

“No, I agree. You know, I think he could have actually fit on that bit of door.”

However, James Cameron has wholeheartedly supported Rose and the death of Jack over the years, most recently in 2012 when Vulture reported that Cameron spoke about the physics of the situation.

“It’s not a question of room; it’s a question of buoyancy. Jack puts Rose on the raft, then he gets on the raft — He’s not an idiot; he doesn’t want to die — and then the raft sinks. So it’s clear that there’s really only enough buoyancy available for one person. So, he makes a decision to let her be that person.”

It seems James Cameron won that one. Or did he? MythBusters hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman revealed through trial and error that Jack could have survived. If they had tied Rose’s life jacket to the underside of the raft, they could have both been on top with 80 percent of their bodies out of the water.

Apparently others, besides Kate Winslet, agree Jack could have lived. Of course, where is the romance in that?

As for the SAG Awards, which Kate Winslet attended recently, Entertainment Weekly reports that Winslet explained to Kimmel all about the photo of her, Susan Sarandon, and Michael Shannon.

“I’ll tell you what’s happening, I’m feeling Susan Sarandon’s t***. I think I may have even felt Kristen Wiig’s butt as well.”

Kate Winslet also spoke about how excited people get to see her and DiCaprio together.

“I know people always so excited to see Leo and myself in the same space, which at the end of the day that’s so lovely isn’t it? It’s been 20 years, and people still get such a kick out of it. It’s really quite endearing, and we do have a laugh about it. We were giggling about it last night. I was like, ‘Can you actually believe that people get so overwhelmed by the Jack and Rose thing?'”

Of course, Kate Winslet is very supportive of Leonardo DiCaprio, her Titanic co-star. The Independent reports that when E! News caught up with her on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and asked her how she felt about winning a Golden Globe for her performance in Steve Jobs, she truthfully answered her mind has been elsewhere.

“To be honest with you, because I’ve been so focused on Leo and him winning everything and being so excited for him, I was genuinely, extremely shocked.”

But apparently, Kate Winslet did more than gush about DiCaprio on the SAG red carpet. She also had a great time embarrassing her daughter, Mia, who is 15 years old. New York Magazine reports that Winslet said her daughter has a major crush on Liam Hemsworth. She said Mia is likely to disapprove of Liam getting back together with Miley Cyrus.

“I’ll have to run it by her when I get home. I just think she wants Liam all to herself, quite frankly.”

Sheesh! Kate Winslet must have gotten some backlash from Mia for that. Wishing Kate luck at the Oscars later this month!
