Demi Lovato Reveals Why She Used To Self-Harm

Demi Lovato opened up about why she used to cut herself in Self magazine’s August issue. The 19-year-old “X Factor” judge told the magazine,

“There were times I felt so anxious, almost like I was crawling out of my skin – that if I didn’t do something physical to match the way I felt inside, I would explode. I cut myself to take my mind off that. I just didn’t care what happened. I had no fear.”

The former Disney star also discussed her bipolar disorder diagnosis and her struggles with eating disorders, saying that she now makes time for herself and makes a conscious choice to work toward happiness. In an interview with Seventeen magazine earlier this year, Lovato said,

“It’s very crucial that you get your feelings out — but don’t ever inflict harm on your own body because your body is so sacred. I wish I could tell every young girl with an eating disorder, or who has harmed herself in any way, that she’s worthy of life and that her life has meaning. You can overcome and get through anything.”

Unfortunately for the singer and actress, there is still some doubt about the validity of her claims that she has been sober since receiving treatment. RadarOnline says sources have told them that Demi Lovato “is still partying hard,” a claim that her representative vehemently denies.

In what would be an ironic twist if the rumors are true, the starlet recently chided two “X Factor” contestants for rapping about bath salts.

“It’s really irresponsible to be rapping about drugs in front of kids,” Lovato told them.
