Zayn Malik’s Bad Reputation

Zayn Malik was once a member of the boy band One Direction, but he chose to leave the group behind last March 25. In what is nothing more than mere coincidence, March 25, 2016 is the date of the release of Malik’s new solo album, Mind of Mine. J-14 reports that Zayn Malik says he didn’t know that’s how it had worked out.

“I don’t know, is that how it works out? Is that the date that it is? It’s March 25th. It wasn’t planned, but it works that way. But it just seems to coincide with the iTunes launch and everything.”

Zayn Malik has finally spoken out about leaving One Direction and his time with the band. Hollywood Life reports that he recently had an interview with On Air with Ryan Seacrest and he said he is very grateful for his time with 1D.

“I’m massively grateful for that, and if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be here. It’s not because I’m trying to be more successful or as successful as what was going on before, because there’s no comparison. I was in the biggest boy band in the world and I loved what we did as a boy band.”

Zayn Malik also released a single last Friday, “Pillowtalk,” which according to Billboard, had a No. 1 debut.

So with all this new activity on the music front, Zayn Malik is certainly one busy young man, so busy that apparently he is pulling out of interviews. Mirror reports that Malik cancelled an interview with Greg James on Radio 1 and he only gave them 45 minutes notice. Malik’s rep said it was due to scheduling issues and the fact that Malik was still in the studio working on his new album.

“Unfortunately there was a scheduling conflict as Zayn is currently in the studio completing his album.”

To say the minimal warning was rude is an understatement and the week before Zayn Malik had also cancelled an appearance on the Graham Norton Show. According to Express, Piers Morgan says Malik has been nothing but rude.

“I interviewed them all for a YouTube thing two years ago, before he left the band… he was just surly the entire time. I thought, ‘if you don’t wanna be a popstar, go and do something else. Go and clean drains.’ Now he’s being deliberately rude to people, being rude, being difficult. Get over yourself, mate.”

According to an insider who spoke with Daily Mail, there were fans lined up outside the studio and they were incredibly disappointed they didn’t get to see Zayn Malik.

“Radio 1 has supported Zayn from day one so it’s very disappointing for all the UK fans not to see him. They had so many people outside the studios and Greg had some big surprises lined up.”

But fans still love Zayn Malik, even if he is a no-show and there is someone else who is sweet on him. Us Weekly reports that Malik himself has given confirmation that he and Gigi Hadid are a couple. Hadid appeared in Malik’s “Pillowtalk” video and when being interviewed by Zach Sang & the Gang, he was asked if it was cool to have his girlfriend in the video. Of course, his answer was yes!

“Yeah, that was cool. It was something different. We enjoyed it, it was fun. Had a lot of fun on set.”

He was then asked another question.

“No one easier to make out with than your own girlfriend, right?”

Zayn Malik replied, “Exactly.”
