Watch Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Talk About Gwen Joining ‘The Voice’ As Blake’s Adviser [Video]

Gwen Stefani is officially joining The Voice as Blake Shelton’s adviser! For weeks there have been rumors that Gwen would be returning to the NBC singing competition to help her cowboy boyfriend after competing against him last season, and Gwen and Blake recently confirmed that these reports are true.

In a video that was shared on the Access Hollywood YouTube page, Blake Shelton admits that he was the one who really fought for Gwen Stefani to return to The Voice as his team mentor. Gwen had to vacate her rotating red seat so that Christina Aguilera could return as a coach, and it was no secret that Blake was upset about the prospect of not getting to go to work with his girlfriend anymore. Luckily for the “Sangria” singer, there are tons of Gwen and Blake fans out there who love watching the pair interact on The Voice, so the NBC powers-that-be found a way to give Blake Shelton and Shefani shippers what they want.

However, during the Access Hollywood interview, Blake tried to claim that he didn’t just ask for Gwen Stefani to be his team’s adviser because he’s head-over-heels in love with her — he sweetly said that her talent played a part in his decision to fight for her to stay on The Voice.

“You start thinking of who are the ultimate artists out there that you get to mentor your team… and it’s like, wait a minute—this is perfect!” Blake said while motioning toward Gwen. “And I actually know her. It will be easy to call her.”

Blake went on to talk about how well he and Gwen Stefani work together.

“We know we collaborate together well as coaches, so of course I would have her as my mentor. And she’s so smart.”

There’s a lot of adorable Gwen and Blake banter in the video below, including Blake telling Gwen that she’s a future Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Gwen asking Blake how he managed to create 21 hit singles in a row. Blake jokes that he “came from money” and bought his success.

Gwen Stefani fans won’t have to wait until The Voice starts airing to see Gwen on TV. As the Inquisitr previously reported, she’s going to debut her new single, “Make Me Like You,” during the February 15 Grammy Awards. Gwen recently revealed the tracklist for her third solo album, This is What the Truth Feels Like, and she’s promoting the record in a really big way — she’s teaming up with Target to create TV’s first live music video. The video will air during a four-minute Grammy Awards commercial break.

Gwen Stefani recently talked to Entertainment Tonight about how much she’s looking forward to the very ambitious debut of “Make Me Like You.”

“It is such an amazing opportunity to do like live art,” Gwen said. “I’ve never done anything like this before.”

The video will be filmed a bit like a fast-paced Broadway play with multiple set changes and costume changes. Gwen revealed that there will be a few “special surprises,” and Shefani fans can only hope that one of these surprises will be an appearance by Blake Shelton. Entertainment Tonight got a behind-the-scenes look at a rehearsal for the live music video, and Gwen Stefani also talked about This is What The Truth Feels Like, which will be released on March 18. According to Gwen, the album is all about turning something bad (her divorce from Gavin Rossdale) into something good (her relationship with Blake Shelton and emotional breakup songs for her new album).

The Grammy Awards airs on February 15 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, and Gwen Stefani fans need to be sure to watch the commercials to catch the live premiere of the “Make Me Like You” music video. Blake Shelton might not pop up in the music video, but at least Shefani fans now know that they can look forward to seeing Blake and Gwen together on The Voice. Season 10 of the singing competition premieres February 29 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
