Bob Dylan will be releasing his new alum, Tempest, on September 11th, 2012, The album, Dylan’s 35th studio album, will be released on the 50th anniversary of the iconic musicians self-titled 1962 debut. According to some of his fans, that might be the singer’s way of book-ending his career.

But the numerology isn’t the only thing that may signal the end of Dylan’s career. The Gurdian notes that the album’s title, Tempest, may also be an indication that the singer is ready to hang up his harmonica. Several Dylan fans on the site expectingrain.com have pointed out that The Tempest was William Shakespeare’s final play.

Of course, Dylan’s retirement is purely speculation at the moment. The press release announcing Dylan’s new album doesn’t mention anything about Dylan slowing down. In fact, it hails the last decade of his career as the “best of his storied career.”

The press release reads:

“Bob Dylan’s four previous studio albums have been universally hailed as among the best of his storied career, achieving new levels of commercial success and critical acclaim for the artist.”

Tempest will feature 10 new tracks from the artist.
