Megan Fox Talks ‘?New Girl’ And Her Character Arc, As Well As?? Turning 30

Actress Megan Fox, who is going to appear in this summer’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, will have an upcoming arc on NBC’s New Girl. The showrunner, Liz Meriwether, spoke with Entertainment Weekly and describes Megan Fox’s character, Reagan, as a woman with a strongly-opinionated voice who will call the main characters on their flaws.

“Most of the characters in the show are very weird and neurotic and not really type-A characters, and so she’s coming in and shaking them up a little bit. What’s great is that she’s this really tough-talking, strong, truth-telling character that comes into the loft and kind of calls everybody out. She’s not putting up with any of their crap in a great way.”

Megan Fox tells People that “Reagan is a pharmaceutical rep so she travels a lot and her company is putting her up at a really terrible hotel.” While Zooey Deschanel, the show’s main protagonist, is off on maternity leave, Fox’s character has been created to fill her place until she returns. Reagan becomes the new roommate and Nick, played by Jake Johnson, takes a liking to the new member of the apartment. Winston, played by Lamorne Morris, tells Cece and Schmidt that “Nick’s got a crush on a girl who is way out of his league.” And when Reagan looks like Megan Fox, that may actually be true. But there’s another interesting twist that fans of New Girl can expect when Fox makes her debut – Cece already knows who Reagan is.

They met and partied together in 2003 at the MTV Beach House and according to Megan Fox, their relationship may have been more than platonic. “Reagan realizes that one of the roommates is actually a past love interest,” she said. Cece is engaged to Schmidt, played by Max Greenfield, and when he figures this out, he doesn’t handle it very well.

“He doesn’t think that’s hot or exciting,” Hannah Simone, who plays Cece, said. “It’s just like, ‘Oh my God. Panic attack.’ So that was really fun. Megan and I got to do a lot of work together against the boys, which is always fun and then by the end of the episode, they threw us in the shower together.”

Megan Fox was always intended for the role, according to Meriwether, who revealed last September that they had the actress in mind when writing the character. Meriwether herself has been a fan of Fox in her comedic roles, including in Judd Apatow’s This Is 40.

“I’ve had fun from day one,” Fox told People in December. “I wasn’t sure how it was going to be because when you walk on to somebody else’s set, a tone is already in place, and you never know how you’re going to fit into that.”

While on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, 29-year-old Megan Fox talked about how she is struggling with the idea that she will be turning 30-years-old later this year in May. She says that while you’re in highschool, 30 sounds like such an old age and when she hits that three-decade milestone, “I should just give up.”

“What makes it even weirder is that you don’t feel any different,” Megan tells Ellen. “And then you turn 30 – I’m turning 30 later this year — you don’t feel any older at all.”

Ellen later gave the actress a kimono with the words “Foxy Mama” emblazoned on the back.

New Girl airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
