Zsa Zsa Gabor Rushed To The Hospital After Difficulty Breathing

The ailing Zsa Zsa Gabor took another turn with her health. Just two days after her 99th birthday, the star, who has been suffering with various ailments over the years, was rushed to the hospital. Gabor was experiencing difficulty breathing at the time.

Her husband Frederic von Anhalt confirmed to the press that she was having difficulty breathing and taken to a facility in Los Angeles. Once at the hospital, the 99-year-old was scheduled to have surgery in order to get her breathing tube taken out. At the time of the ordeal, doctors were first called to her home to remedy the issue. Doctors attempted to remove mucus from her throat, but were unable to.

What set off the slew of her various health-related issues was a 2002 car accident that she experienced. The crash happened on Sunset Boulevard, and left the Moulin Rouge actress partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

Since then she has suffered two strokes — one in 2005 and another in 2007. In 2010 she had a surgery to replace her hip after she fractured a joint. It was in this same year that she experienced another setback when she fell out of bed after trying to reach for the telephone.

According to the Inquisitr, Zsa Zsa Gabor was rushed to the hospital in 2010 after her husband found her unresponsive. Although it wasn’t life-threatening, it was a scare.

In January of 2011 her right leg was amputated right above her knee after doctors discovered she had a bad infection and there was nothing they could do to save it. At first the actress didn’t know her leg was amputated due to the fact that one of her arms is paralyzed, and the other was too short to reach the bottom half of her body.

She discovered her leg had been amputated 18 months after the ordeal happened. Her husband of 26 years said at the time to the New York Post,

“She found out about it when she told me to sit her up, and she saw it. She couldn’t feel it because [one] hand is paralyzed and [one] hand was too short to go on it… Finally, a half-year later she said, ‘There is something missing.’ ”

He continued,

“She doesn’t even know she gets food through the tube. It will only upset her. She was so glamorous always, and she is so vain.”

Another secret kept from Zsa Zsa Gabor was the 2012 death of her friend comedian Phyllis Diller. It was decided that she would become too upset if she learned the truth, much like her amputated leg.

If that wasn’t enough, Gabor’s husband has been accused of keeping Zsa Zsa isolated. In 2012, his daughter-in-law Francesca Hilton accused her mother’s husband of keeping her “heavily sedated” and “increasingly isolated.”

At the time, Hilton’s lawyer Kenneth Kossoff told E! about Hilton’s plan to be awarded with a conservatorship so she can take legal action over her mother’s well being.

“What Ms. Hilton is seeking here is for the court to make sure that Zsa Zsa’s best interests are not being sacrificed for the selfish interests of anyone involved in Zsa Zsa’s life.”

In court documents, Zsa Zsa’s daughter said,

“My mother’s husband has increasingly isolated my mother from others who have been close to her. Before she broke her hip, my mother and I spoke several times every day. Since she broke her hip, her husband has removed the telephone that used to be by her bed.”

Unfortunately, Hilton passed away suddenly in 2015 after suffering from a stroke.
