Navy Veteran Starts GoFundMe Page For Beyonce’s #FormationTour Tickets, Receives Epic Responses

A United States Navy veteran has sparked outrage over the GoFundMe page he’s created and the comical comments are completely epic. According to The Grio, the man at the center of crowdfunding controversy – reportedly named Rover Bentley, of Atlanta, GA – claims to be one of Beyonce’s biggest fans.

So, when Queen Bey formally announced her upcoming, surprise Formation Tour, following her Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday, Feb. 7, Bentley knew he wanted to attend. However, there’s just one problem.

Apparently, the Navy veteran doesn’t have money to attend and since tickets are scheduled to go on sale Monday, Feb. 15, he may be facing another problem in the near future. The loyal BeyHive will most likely swarm Ticketmaster, leaving only the nosebleed seats most fans dread. So, in an effort to make sure he has the best seats possible when she arrives in Atlanta on May 1, 2016, he decided to create a GoFundMe account and so others could help him achieve his goal. Bentley is hoping to raise $900.00 in concert money through GoFundMe.

Not only did he ask for the help of others for personal gain, but he also shared a little background information about himself that’s only added to the outrage. Since he’s a Navy veteran, he believes Americans should feel compelled to contribute to his dreams because he’s served the country in the armed forces.

Here’s the description from his GoFundMe page.

“ALL HALE BEYONCE!
I am a United States Navy Veteran. On February 7, 2016 #Beyonce shocked the world with a surprise tour!
I am a SUPERFAN, I have ‘stood the watch’ so that we as a country could have the freedoms of doing and going places here in the US. I am only asking for small donations. I would like to attend Beyonce concert in Atlanta, GA on May 1, 2016… Please make this dream come true. I wrote a check for my life, so Im asking that you help my conquire another life goal.”

Of course, many people have been fortunate to raise a substantial amount of money for a legitimate goal with the help of crowdfunding, but social media users aren’t buying this one. Although Bentley’s GoFundMe page has caught the attention of many social media users and now has nearly 4,000 shares, it’s not for the reason he initially hoped.

Based on the comments, his page may not be active very long due to overwhelming backlash. Bentley has been criticized and slammed by frustrated social media users who have flooded his page with brash comments, accusing him of abusing crowdfunding opportunities. In fact, so many comments have been posted, it appears social media users are trolling the page just for that purpose.

Here are some of the comments.

“I’m giving you $5 so you can buy some premium lotion. You are very ashy for this,” one person said.

“Wow! You’re using you ‘veteran’ status as a means of inspiring sympathy with the hope that people will donate to your superficial cause, and all the while giving other Honorable veterans a shady regard. Listen, no one made you go into the military, you chose to join, and I, a fellow Navy veteran, commend you for doing so. However, this fundraiser is far from commendable, it’s self-serving and tacky,” another person said.

Surprisingly, there were some users who actually defended Bentley. “Well it’s nice that somebody was willing to donate. This man has every right to make a request like this no matter how pathetic it may seem to y’all. In my a opinion all the insults should be thrown toward the people that are stupid enough to donate because clearly this has to be a joke,” one person said.

Although this veteran is at the center of controversy, apparently, there’s a GoFundMe trend among anxious fans who would like to purchase Formation Tour tickets. Since her announcement, several GoFundMe pages have been created for the same purpose. Over the past 24 hours, several Twitter users have posted links to their own pages.
